Charge 3 records sleep when awake, but relaxed

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Records me sleeping when awake, but relaxed;

patting cat - light sleep,

wake-up answer phone - REM sleep,

listen to music - light to REM..

I suffer severe insomnia, was hoping to use this to help record, track, and improve.

I’ve learned  to breath, relax, calm when I can’t sleep, or just listen to music..

there must be a way to teach and improve the sleep app?

any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @JaiM

Gosh I wish I could help with your insomnia. That must be difficult I’m sure. I dug around a bit and did find this help article that might be helpful here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2423.htm

This article here can help you with the sleep settings of the Fitbit app: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1314.htm

For devices that record sleep patterns instead of sleep stages, you can set your device to track sleep in a normal or sensitive mode.

In normal mode, when you make significant movements like rolling over, your device records time spent awake. This setting is appropriate for most users. In sensitive mode, your device records nearly all movements as time spent restless or awake. This setting may be helpful if you wake up feeling tired even though your sleep history shows sufficient rest.

If you want to change your sleep settings (either normal or sensitive) here’s how:

Open your Fitbit App

Tap your profile picture

Scroll down an tap Activities & Wellness

Next scroll down and tap Sleep

Tap sleep sensitivity at the bottom of the screen and make your choice

😉 Remember to sync your Charge 3 anytime you make changes in the Fitbit App so that your Charge 3 accepts those changes. I hope my response helps in someway and provides you with the best answer I can offer. Please let me know.

Beauty, thank you.

I can at least now adjust start and finish.
Here’s hopping this starts teaching it 🤓

Will call support on Monday, see if there’s anything else I’m supposed to be doing.

But this was a great help.
Greatly appreciate, have a good one.

justas a note, article said it’s supposed to wait for 1hr of no movement, low heart, then interpret as sleep.
Mine said I was in REM 15mins after I went to bed. Definitely moving before, and was cuddling cat after… just venting 🥸

Hello again @JaiM

😃 I’m happy I was able to help. I’d definitely consider changing your sleeping sensitivity to sensitive. I really think that settings would be best in your situation. Those subtle movements (like petting and snuggling with the cat) should be picked up on sensitive mode and give you a better/accurate reading.

I hope you have an amazing weekend and as always Happy Stepping!
