Charge 3 screen dimmed until fully black, can't find fix

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My charge 3 screen was slowly dimming over time until it went completely black. It is fully charged, and I have tried both regular and long restarts which I believe worked, but as the screen doesnt display anything I can't be 100% certain it did in fact restart

It was barely more than a year of sporadic use before this issue began, but of course by that time, the warranty has expired

Any advice on whether this is fixable or not would be appreciated

This has happened to me twice now.

Same problem here. Slowly was dimming, now completely blank. I tried to change clock faces, but that didn't work. Restart not working. Or, at least I don't think so, since the face is blank.

Same thing has happened with my charge 4 over the last week. Now it’s so dark I can’t read anything to try to factory reset.

I thought it was just me! My screen had been dimming for a day and now it is completely black. I've tried resetting it, resynching it and it will do nothing except vibrate in response to me pressing the button on the Charge 4. I am upset that my Charge 4 is essentially useless at this point. Please help us Fitbit!

First time I ended up getting a new one. Second time I got a re-furb from CEX, this time I’ve stolen my son’s!
Now that FitBit have lost 10yrs of my data, I don’t feel so loyal, so next time I’ll just get something different!

I've had several FitBits. All developed problems early on. I also had the Aria scale that only worked for a few months. Next time I will get a different brand as well!!

I did the hard reset while my Charge 4 was plugged in- holding the button for 15 seconds. This time I got a smiley face, however, the progress was short lived as it just went back to the black screen afterward. Woo. Going to try more things when I get home. My Fitbit is my only watch right now so I feel lost without it. Hope this issue is fixed promptly. All of these Charges didn't go dim and then black by accident or malfunction.

I did those things too but it certainly did not fix the problem.

Same here! I tried the reset but screen is completely dark now compared to extremely faded earlier. I am wondering if this could be because of a firmware update and not the physical device

Are we getting any answers from FitBit?

No response from Fitbit. I don't know if they monitor this forum.

Just saw this comment at the top of the main page. I am going to create a post for my Charge 4, if any of you want to jump over there.

I had a similar problem with my original Charge. I changed the clock face, and it worked. It didn't work this time for C3.

Here is the charge 4 post. Hopefully can get a moderator to respond there.

I received the Charge 3 as a gift 18 months ago, I didn't bother to use it because my Charge 2 was still doing well and had no issues until late December 2023. It finally died on me. I proceed to open up my gift and use the Charge 3. However, it didn't work out of the box. No display, no green light and no charging at all. After chatting with support, they did some diagnostics with me agreed that there was something wrong, and gave me the RMA to send it in for replacement. It took me another month and several follow-up calls to finally get the replacement yesterday.

Proceeded to install and sync etc with the app. Everything seems to be good until this morning. The display has the same issues as described here on the forum. But it took 1 day to dim. I can barely make out the time inside the house/room, but if I step outside it is not visible. This seems to be a problem well described, did you (or anyone) get a response from support?

Yeah I'm the same it's been going well for some 4+years and now a blank screen. It seems to track everything but not function as a watch, which is pointless. I've tried multiple times with charging and resetting plus changing the watch face to no luck. I agree it seems like fitbit have done something in the background perhaps. Any advice fitbit?

Had this Problem before, received a replacement, but after about a year the screen went blank again but data continues to be collected. Maybe one day I'll buy a new tracker but in view of the fact that so many users report the same problem and  the recommended solutions are unsuccessful, then it won't be a Fitbit
