Charge 3 screen has dim/dead spots

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The majority of my fitbit screen has gone very dim (I can just barely see that there's text there but I can't really read it) or completely dark. There is only one spot right at the bottom that is bright enough to actually read. I have the brightness setting up to max, so that is not the problem. Rebooting did not help.

I've had this device since the initial charge 3 release in late 2018. No issues until now.

Would really like to get this resolved, and this is making my fitbit almost unusable to me.

What ever happened bc mine is doing the same thing.....

I ended up having to buy a new one, but customer support gave me a discount code that took 15 or 20% off (don't remember the exact amount since it was so long ago). I got the extended warranty this time, in case this happens again...

@SheSand @CathyFB Welcome to the Community.

@SheSand Let me help you with your Charge 3 screen not working. Try restarting your tracker by doing the following:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Disconnect your tracker from the charging cable.

@CathyFB happy to hear that you have a new device and thank you for your help in this thread.

Let me know how it goes.

It happened to me to recently. The screen is dim even I set it as " Normal" for brightness. There are a few black dots when numbers or texts are displaying. Restart or fully charge did not help at all. Any solution to it? I also got the late release version in Dec 2018.

I contacted the Fitbit help support, live chat first then also called them to ask for help. They firstly guide me through a long-time start, but it changed nothing. At the end they thought my screen is not properly functioning, so they emailed me and offered a discount for me to purchase a new one. Since Fitbit 3 is not available anymore, so I purchased Fitbit 4 with the discount code. Also, they asked me to mail back the device ( no accessories needed, just the screen part) to a designated address, so they can investigate and try to find answers to it. The people I contacted are really friendly and helpful.

I mailed my device ( the Fitbit 3 with problem) on 3/25/2021, and also purchased the new one on the same day, and the new one is expected to be delivered today. I am giving a second chance for Fitbit since I really love some features it has. If further issue popped, I may consider to switch to apple watch or other brands.

Just my personal experience and thoughts, and I hope it helps.
