I have had exactly the same experience. In fact, the CSR with whom I spoke USED the word "defective" to describe my screen! But yup, since it's out of warranty, I'm welcome to buy a new one.
BTW, this is the SECOND device on which this happened!!!
I purchased 1/2019, and when the device screen display failed in 7/2019, they replaced it. However, the second device has failed in 8/2020, and they told me to buy another.
That this is happening repeatedly says that it's definitely a defect. That they are actually initiating use of the word "defect" to describe the problem says that they are fully aware of this.
GRRRRRRR.

Hello! I have tried this to fix my faded screen. I have also tried removing the charge and reinstalling. Nothing has changed. Is there another step to try? Thanks!

I"m having this same problem, with the screen almost invisible at the edges and faded all through. I've tried restarting a few times, with no effect. For the past month or so, my Charge 3 also has stopped vibrating at 10,000 steps or when I get a call or text, although it still shows up in Settings as ready to do that. Any other suggestions as to what I might do? I can only read the display in a dark closet.

My watch out of the blue started getting dimmer and dimmer to the point that the only visible thing now is a number on the very bottom of the screen.
If it wasn't for the app updating progress, I wouldn't even know it's working. Today I couldn't even charge it properly since not even the charging battery smiley display wouldn't show up.
Reading through this thread, it sounds like a defect that would be replaced if in warranty - does anyone know if customer service requests for replacements work outside of the USA?

Hi, I have the same problem with my charge 3, and from what I see the only solution is to change the device, right? there is no solution?
Thanks!

Hello
i am having the same issue with my Fitbit Charge 3. I have loved and relied on this device for the last year. I tried the suggestion of powering it down and back up with no resolution. Any other suggestions? I really don’t want to give up on my device.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. It still records everything to my app but using my Fitbit for information has become useless.

Hi Jasmmn
Mine is doing the same also. Very frustrating. I like to check my status throughout the day and also the time is nice to see. Lol. I really don’t want to have to purchase another one. For what I paid, longevity should be part of this package.
