Hi Fitbit support team,
The display of my Fitbit Charge 3 is fading, I tried to restart the device but no success. The warranty team contacted me and offered a 35% discount to buy a new device, but this is not the solution I expected. The device works properly, except the display. I never had my device in water, and keep it wiped down. There is no way to only change the display?

Same exact problem. I’m so bummed because I love the size of the charge three. I had a charge to until it also got to them. I was so excited when I got my charge three and how bright it was! If I don’t get some resolution, I think it’s time to move to an Apple Watch.

All B/W OLED displays fade with time. The brighter the setting and the more frequently it is turned on, the sooner it will fade. I had my Charge 3 display set on normal setting and wake on raising my wrist, and the display went out completely after around 18 months. I replaced it with a Charge 4 and disabled the automatic display wake feature. After 18 months it still seems to be bright as it was when new.

Same thing happening to me right now! Screen has been slowly fading for a few months now after basic everyday use. Thought I’d check the forums if there’s any solution and have tried all the suggested reboots, etc. alas to no success. Starting the research on what to get next!

Same thing happening here. Going to have to replace mine as well. Screen in no longer legible. Probably choose another brand.

Hi Boris_S, can you tell me what the difference is between your 3 and 4 that you now have? My 3 has the same issue but I have had it for a very long time. I was just wondering if I was to replace it actually the difference between the Charge 4 and 5. Thanks. Susan P.

The Fitbit Charge 4 looks and works identical to the Charge 3 except with the addition of built in GPS. I keep the GPS disabled and use location from my iPhone since it reduces battery life from a week to 2 hours. Unfortunately Charge 4 is no longer available, except old stock on eBay. Charge 5 is a totally revised version with a color display, but no altimeter, so no more floors tracking.
Since I do a lot of mountain sports, I like to be able to track elevation in my activities, hence why I upgraded to the Charge 4 rather than the Charge 5. If you don't care for the floors tracking, then go for the Charge 5.
The benefits of tracking devices such as the Charge over the smartwatches such as the Versa, Sense, Google Pixel, iWatch, etc., is the week long battery life and the fact that they are thinner, lighter, and more comfortable during sports such as running, hiking, skiing, skating. I hope Fitbit, now Google, does not obsolete this format.

Take in mind that the screen's brightness is set to dim when this setting is on. To check this, press and hold the button, swipe left to access the quick settings screen and tap the moon icon to turn it on or off. Additionally, I'd recommend restarting your tracker to refresh its performance.
