I have been using my Charge 3 regularly and without issue since buying it in May 2019. However, over the last month the screen has become too dim to read. I have tried adjusting the brightness settings, watch face, updating the watch and restarting it. But none of these have worked. Is there any advice on what I can do next to fix the screen as I cannot read it?

After some back and forth with various possible remedies for fixing this issue, I was able to get through to the customer support team. Unfortunately there was nothing they could do to fix the issue. However, as my watch was still under the 2 year warranty for any product bought in the EAA, Fitbit were able to offer me a free replacement charge 3 or 50% off any new Fitbit product. I was really happy with this outcome and my advice would be for anyone who has an issue to create a new post in the community so that the moderators can begin to offer support. It seems like posting more issues as replies to a post often goes unseen by the moderators.

I've had the same issue regarding the brightness. Had not had an issue since I purchased the Charge 3 on Jun 10, 2020

I also have the same issue, the screen is too dim to read. I have tried all the suggestions of changing the clock face, short & long reboot to no avail. This seems to have started after doing a recent update, can you restore the software to the former version while you research the fix?

Hello
am sorry for your frustration
I’ve sent a direct message via Twitter and these are the recommendations they’ve sent right after
“Hi, Sylvia! We recommend syncing your Fitbit Charge 3 then restarting it. To restart the device, please follow these steps: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1186.htm. Once you are able to restart the Charge 3, sync it again. If the issue persists, please share with us the email address paired to the Fitbit account so we can look further into this.”
i was unable to follow the instructions up to now since I’ve been attending several working meetings - and once I am done with them I will try myself and keep you all posted
good luck as well 😷👍

Turn off the Sleep function on the watch itself.

I've relied on my Charge 3 since its purchase from Amazon on 2019-09-19. About a month ago it started to dim and would not turn on the display with wrist movement. It now requires a button press. The display is now unreadable in most light conditions. I have had to start wearing a watch to tell time. I'd like a reliable fix before the warranty expires (assuming there is a one year warranty). Took me a minute to figure it out but I finally got it to work. I pressed the home key on the side scrolled to the left until I got to settings and noticed that the display said DIM. I scrolled it up to bright, I don’t know how it got that way because I certainly would never use the dim setting. I was also able to remove DND which turned itself on by rebooting the device

I am also facing the same problem and it's virtually impossible to read the screen either indoors and outdoors. This is very frustrating and the steps to do a hard reset/reboot dont seem to be addressing the problem. Please help!

After my post on September 9th, I also tried a Tweet @Fitbitsupport. It began as a live chat. But no immediate reply; not even a "we will look into it." Still no response as of 0757 h EDST on September 10th. Perhaps any satisfactory remedy is too costly given so many repirted Charge 3 problems.

It can be extremely frustrating to try something over and over and then have to deal with customer support whose only recourse is to say sorry bout that let’s elevate this while we pass the ball. I was able to get it to work after multiple tries. I also put the Fitbit on the charger pressed and held the side button for 15 seconds till it restarted then scrolled to the left, settings is the last option. Then roll screen up to bright. It actually worked

I repeated your protocol a second time after it hung on the first run.
It worked!

Thanks for the suggestion. Mine was/is so dim I had to do this in a dark closet to get to settings. Alas, my Fitbit was on "Normal" and that is still very dim.
But I am glad this worked out for you.
