Charge 3 is the screen is totally black and will not reboot.  However, it will take a charge and it syncs up with the IPhone.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @EllenCCampbell.

Thank you for the information provided and for trying to resolve the issue with your Fitbit Charge 3 before contacting us.

In addition to the regular restart you can perform a long restart:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Whether this doesn't work, please try to change the clock face.

Hope this helps.

The long restart failed. The battery icon never showed up in the display. There was some vibrations but not really in the pattern described in the instructions.

This sentence "Whether this doesn't work, please try to change the clock face .” does not make sense, both grammatically and literally. If the restart fails, there is no way to access the display interface to change the clock face.

They were helpful, but not successful in fixing the problem.
End result: not fixable, out of warranty, resulting in looking to replace current Fitbit.

I got my 2nd replacement charge 3 about a year ago. A few weeks ago I started getting the black lines across the top of the screen again. Tonight when I swiped the screen to change my alarm the screen went all funny then totally black. The guarantee has ran out as I got the original one 2yrs ago for Christmas. I've tried resetting it, it vibrates a couple of times then nothing else. I'm going to try change the clock face to see if that works.

I've tried long restart and normal restart, I've also tried changing the clock face 3 times but I've still got just a blank screen. Surely the charge 3 should last longer than they do. This was a gift of my mam and we currently can't afford to pay for a new one.

On what device can you change the clock face? I looked on the iPhone and on my Mac.

On the app on my phone I go into settings, clock faces, then pick one of the clocks to display on my watch.

I've tried changing the clock but I've still got the black/blank screen

Same here. Did a restart and the screen stays blank unless it is connected to charge and/or sync.

Mines still black even when it's on charge. My brother got the charge 2 just before I got the charge 3(our mam paid for them as they were part birthday/Christmas gift) a his is still going strong plus his battery lasts ages

Thanks for the feedback. FitBit is replacing my device. However, after I dropped it at the post office with the mailing & tracking label issued by FitBit, the U.S. Post Office handed it off to a "third party return agent" which happens to be FedEx and no additional tracking information will be available. So, now I have no idea where my device is and it is now 15 days after I put it in the mail. I've emailed FitBit Support to ask what am I supposed to do now, but they have not responded.
