Charge 3 screen sometimes remains blank

I had a few occurrences during exercise that my charge 3 goes blank and vibrated 2 times when I push the button. I thought it was temperature related in heat, but no that it is cooler it is still happening. I also assumed it was power, but last time when I got back it was 60%. I also notice the happy face appearing when I am trying to check. To make it more confusing, looking at my phone the steps are in sync even when the screen won't show??? I thought maybe it was a power saver, but when I changed
