Charge 3 screen went blank

Got this yesterday and the screen is already black and won’t turn on. Very very disappointed, looks like it’s a common issue. I’d rethink getting this, a shame it’s so common for the anticipation of this...

Black screen - it’s syncing and vibrating but black screen. And obviously can’t engage or choose a timed exercise -swimming, running , walking, interval, workouts etc.... 

 

changed clock face - didn’t work

charged my Charge 3 - didn’t work

did the 8 second reboot - didn’t work

did the 15 second with charger, unplugged, then replugged into charger and smiley face came. But then the screen turned white and face data the in black and the screen did constant scrolling over and over when touched the vibrate button and screen black when I disengaged the button. Scrolling so fast I couldn’t really read anything. 

 

When I tried to reboot / reset it went back to black screen no more smiley faces.

Hi there,
I tried and tried emailing them for a replacement as my screen never came back but they said for 6 months they were sorting the problem.

I finally made time to call them and I spoke to a wonderful guy who authorised a new fit bit - the wrong colour arrived but I was so happy to have a working watch again and I couldn’t bear to contact them again.

Give them a call - Good Luck!

Everybody should just call customer support - 5 minute call. You were right about warranty. They identified immediately that all the on-line help would not work on my mine and issued warranty replacement or 50 % discount on an upgrade. Thank you! I spent several hours today troubleshooting this and it’s my 3rd Fitbit so I’m familiar with them. Online should say try the 3 following troubleshoots, if no positive result call Customer Service - defective Fitbit.

Hi,

I'm having the same issue now. My screen is black, I feel the vibrations, I was able to sync it to my iPhone. In the app it says it is 100% battery and I have changed the clock faces multiple times. Nothing has worked yet 😞 When I restart it (hold the button for 8 secs), it does not vibrate indicating a restart and the smiley face is not up.

Hi there i just ended up taking it back.. and they replaced in straight
away as its a common thing to happen with this watch..

None of the suggestions have worked to correct this problem with my Charge 3,whichbis just over a year old. And Fitbit, rather than make it right, told me I would need to buy a new one. They'll give me a little bit of a discount, but why would I continue to buy a product that has known issues and the company won't stand behind their product?

I've been dealing with this periodically, and it's pretty frustrating. Changed my clock face & everything was fine.

I believe the Charge 3 isn't as waterproof as they think it is, jogging, heavy workouts and extreme sweating, scuba diving and swimming. My 5th charge 3 and it seems that the unit can't really handle water, my sister has a charge 3 that she has had for almost 2 years with no issue's, she takes hers off before she takes a shower, before she goes swimming or even kayaking. I on the other hand wear mine all the time and this replacement lasted 2 and half months before the black screen and then another month before the unit completely died won't even accept a charge. So if you own a charge 3 don't use it near water if you want it to last, sucks as that is what I got the thing for, my wife has had a charge 2 for almost 4 years without an issue other than the band itself wearing out and needing replacement.

This is my second fitbit charge 3 (the first one never recovered from the black screen of death). I have tried the suggested steps and my fitbit is still unresponsive. What do I do now?

If you haven't tried updating the clock thru the Fitbit app, I don't know
what else to suggest.

MyCharge3 screen has gone blank. I’ve tried the re-set and holding for 8 and 15 seconds and this has not worked. I’ve also tried changing the clock face and this hasn’t worked. It has synced perfectly and recorded data. Please can someone help.

Try changing to a different clock face. Mine does the same thing
periodically. I add a new face then change it back

I have tried everything and still a straight line across Fitbit charge 3!!!! So disappointed ☹️
