Charge 3 screen went blank

I've had my Charge 3 a little over a month. Last night my screen went blank. It was at 100% battery. It is still syncing with the app so I can see that it is still tracking my steps and sleep, etc. When I tried to restart it by placing it on the charger and holding down the side button for 8 secs. When I hold the button down it does a very quick pulse vibe about 4 times and then nothing. I've tried holding it longer than 8 secs also and still nothing. Very frustrated to be having this issue with a brand new product. Contemplating returning the one I bought my husband for Christmas and returning mine as well if not resolved immediately.

Hi,

I've had the same problem with my Fitbit charge 3 for the past few days. I've tried the procedure you've mentioned multiple times and the smiley face appears on the screen and then it goes black again.. is there anything else I can do?

Thanks

In the end I gave in, having tried all the fixes that were suggested. I got in touch with customer services and they were very helpful. I had a replacement very quickly. My faulty Fitbit was well within its warranty as was its replacement when that failed with a completely different problem.

Unfortunately, no luck on my end. Not syncing either. Black screen.  😞

This worked for me eventually! Just keep repeating the process below!

  • Plug the device into the charging cable.
  • While the device is plugged into the charging cable, hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  • Remove your finger from button. Note: Device won't have a smiley face icon and should be off with a black screen.
  • Remove the device from the charging cable.
  • Plug the device into the charging cable again.
  • The smiley face icon appears on the screen.

I’ve done this a few times but my screen still won’t work. It charges and syncs but I can’t get the screen o work at all.

That’s a shame because it has worked for me. Then I would contact Fitbit direct, they’ve been very helpful in the last. I contacted them via live chat on their website. Good luck.

I'm on my 3rd Charge 3 and it happened again... Now I can't even get it to wake up to show my screen. Only way is to put in charging cradle and reset it. Have to do it almost everyday and sometimes a few times a day... Saving up to get a versa model because I've heard better things with that one and nothing but black screens with the Charge...

Oh no that’s bad luck. Mine has settled and is fine again. Might look at another brand next time although I really like Fitbit but it is my third one including 2 replacements! 🙀

After my second Charge 3 failed after a short time I upgraded to a Charge 4. It’s the last chance saloon for Fitbit!

I've been unable to get my to restore the screen after multiple restart attempts. The Garmin and Fitbit are the same price here in Australia and given I had no problems with my Garmin I might have to consider buying the latest of it. That said at $200 here in Australia, that's along way towards an Apple Watch so something to consider. All in all though, my feeling towards Fitbit is it's not a reliable device and for the money I couldn't recommend one to anyone anymore.

Im so frustrated with this it seems to be happening more frequently over time when this dies its last I will not be replacing it with another fitbit.

Part of the frustration is no easy way to get help, you wind up at a group chat apparently FitBit wants user to solve problem on their own via sorting through multiple posts, vs having timely support staff respond.

Invariably my Fitbit Charge 2 and charge 3 now dies when I am traveling when I rely on the FB as a watch more than as fitness tracker  very hard to do with blank screen.
