Charge 3 screen went blank

I've had my Charge 3 a little over a month. Last night my screen went blank. It was at 100% battery. It is still syncing with the app so I can see that it is still tracking my steps and sleep, etc. When I tried to restart it by placing it on the charger and holding down the side button for 8 secs. When I hold the button down it does a very quick pulse vibe about 4 times and then nothing. I've tried holding it longer than 8 secs also and still nothing. Very frustrated to be having this issue with a brand new product. Contemplating returning the one I bought my husband for Christmas and returning mine as well if not resolved immediately.

Same problem. My watch has been doing blank daily for the last few days. The solutions no longer work. The watch works otherwise.  It’s syncing with my phone, vibrating, counting steps, etc but the screen is blank. Tried changing the face too. It didn’t work.

I followed the instructions, but did not get a smiley face. Still have a black screen. What should I try next?

Had to do this reset process twice before I got the Smiley face, but now all seems to be working.

Spoonman: For me it rarely worked the first time, I usually had to try multiple (3-5) times in sequence.  My theory is it is battery related, so the other option is to leave it in the charger for a few hours and then try again--again multiple times.  If all that fails, many others here have had great success getting them exchanged if they are in warrantee.

Final note is if you have not tried changing the clock app, do so.  That has helped quite a few other folk as well.  Seems weird, but has worked.

BTW, I had a buddy at work who went by Spoonman!  Sure it's not you, but that is an unusual nickname!

Good luck!

I tried this charge and press and hold and so on solution more than 20 times. Got confirmation vibrations and so on, still not fixed. Ive tried changing the clockface 4 times, as that has also worked in the past. It is indeed still logging my steps as others have said. Most infuriating of all, it shows % when charging, but then no other screen data. Im stuck. How can I fix this.

S-Scully:  That is something way outside anything I've seen posted here.  Any chance your device is still under warantee?  I think that is your only hope at this point.  Sorry to say so.

I just got my Fitbit today, charged it fully, ran all of the setup processes and the first thing that I noticed is that the screen goes blank after a few seconds.  The things recommended didn't remedy this.  If I press the button on the side, I can then see the time, but want to see it on ALWAYS, particular since the "turn your wrist toward you" and the display will come on advice doesn't work.  Please help.  This seems to be a common and recurring issue.

Press and hold the side button; you'll get an option to set the rotating
wrist activation.

And to my knowledge, there is no way to turn the screen permanently on, nor
would you want one. It'd kill the battery. The wrist flick has always
worked for me, once in a while it turns that setting off? But it takes like
3 seconds to put it back on. Easy peasy.
Hope that helps.

I’ve also got the black screen, been doing the plug into charger, press button thing for days now and nothing. Even my 11 year old son can’t see anything on the screen. Getting really annoyed to the point of getting a new Fitbit type watch (not Fitbit at all) and ditching Fitbit. I don’t pay a lot for a device to suddenly go to a black screen that I need to use my phone to see what steps I have done. Totally rediculous

Cazzie350: Any chance it is still under warrantee?  If so, they have been pretty good about replacing it.  That is what I should have done when I first had the issue, but waited too long.

I tried holding the button while on the charger and got the smiley face but then that goes away and I still have a blank screen.  Am I missing something or doing it wrong.

Joe:  Hmm, every time I've gotten the smiley face, that has been sign of the fitbit being fixed.  This sounds like a different problem than the one we're dealing with here.  Sorry.  If you can, do go through the "change the clock" process, not sure why, but that has helped quite a few folk as well.

I have taken the steps you suggested with no luck is there anything else I can try?

Morem: For the long reset in the charger method, that is very much hit and miss and something to try multiple times.  If it is the same issue as mine, it may be coincidence, but I've sometimes had better luck after leaving the fitbit in the charger for several hours (I had a long post earlier with theories as to why).

If you are having the same issue as Joe above with getting the smiley face, but then a blank screen, that seems to be a very different problem than what I've been experiencing, so have no good experience-based advice.  Best advice still is if your fitbit is under warantee, get it replaced!  I'm past mine so been stubbornly tinkering versus grumpily getting a replacement like any normal person should do! 🙂
