Charge 3 showing "001" error

Just some random splashing of water and the Charge 3 started acting up. Never had moisture problems with it, but I don't think I have taken it swimming. Started out the morning after the splashing, I noticed it needed a charge in the middle of the night.

 

Connected it and in the morning I was greeted with a dark screen but could feel a vibrate when pressing the side button. Saw moisture in contacts area. Been sitting in rice for two days. Tried the recommended restart several times after reading the community questions. Got a smiley face and after a couple minutes, the Error code 001 each time. Is this Charge 3 a lost cause after just 18 months?
