Charge 3 stats are being doubled

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The Charge 3 randomly doubles the readings. For example, 11000 steps will show on the screen as 22000. I have observed this with the step count and the heart rate. When I synchronize the Fitbit with my Windows 10 computer, the readings return to what they should be.

This has now happened with two Charge 3 devices. I returned the first, because the malfunction happened frequently within the first week of owning it. Today marks the first time I have observed this with the second device, which I have been using for about 3 weeks. If the history of the first device is any indication, the problem will grow worse over the next several days.

My device is up-to-date. Are the cause and fix known?

Welcome to the Community, @TeaUser.

Are you manually logging any type of activity that might be doubling your information? If you are, I recommend deleting those activities and see if your information goes back to normal.

I hope to hear from you soon. 🙂

Hello Alejandra,
I rarely log any activity manually, and did not on this day. The doubling does not just affect steps and distance when it happens. I returned a Charge 3 because this behavior was happening frequently (off-and-on during the same day, almost daily).
This also affects heart rate. On the fitbit that I returned, I observed several instances when I was standing still, and my recorded heart rate jumped from, say, 70 bpm to 140 bpm. My heart definitely was not beating at 140 bpm.
Yesterday, I noticed the steps sometime after the doubling had occurred, so I didn't see whether the heart rate was also doubled during the event.
Thank you for looking into this.

Thanks for the update and the information, @TeaUser. I am sorry to hear that you returned the unit. If in the future, there is anything we can help you with, do not hesitate to post it.

Happy stepping.

Thanks for logging this issue as it just happened to me and I had no idea what was going on.  I saw your summary and as you say, it fixed itself once I synchronised with Windows 10 which had the correct info on it the whole time.  I have had my device for 3 months and just love it.  I hope this is not a bad omen!
