My charge 3 said 3,000 steps prior to my afternoon walk. When I returned after 35 minutes of walking it was only 3,600. Normally it is >2000 steps. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Strangely, this topic has been marked as solved, but these issues persist for many users, and Fitbit seems to be working at a snails pace to fix them. I may switch to a different brand.

Thank you for your feedback @DebbieAH @Willrich, I'm aware that some users have reported they're still finding this behavior with their workout being randomly interrupted.
The team of developers is already aware of this and they're working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible. At the moment, we haven't received other updates regarding this difficulty that is presenting during workouts.
Let me know if you have further questions.

Is there any potential ETA on a fix? This has been a known issue for almost a year based on the posts I've seen here, and it's a pretty major problem for a fitness tracker to not track fitness. We didn't return the unit when the problem first presented and now are outside the 30 day return window, so it's pretty frustrating that this hasn't seemed to have seen any progress.

I am having this same issue. I just chatted with your support and was told you're still working on a solution and, if it went past my warranty they would "give me options". I'm a little concerned about that. Will one of the "options" be a replacement?
I have tried all of the steps recommended and my Charge 3 still stops midway when I'm walking or hiking. My Charge 2 worked much better than this Charge 3.

Hello, I have a brand new Charge 3, and I am experiencing the same problem, just letting you know.
It's still a problem.
I am wondering whether to return this product inside of the return window and get my money back as I see this problem had not been fixed after over a year

Hi. I’ve had Fitbit Charge HR, 2 and 3 for total of 5 years now. I’ve got Charge 3 for 3 months now and during that time I’ve also had many tracking related problems, mainly the tracking ending too early during the session. For example if I have a soccer training or match and I start it just before the session, I find it had ended the training after 5 minutes ot so and there is no heart rate data available after.
I have tried different ways to resolve the issue and I have visited this forum for several times but there seems to be no solution or fix to this problem. That is very sad. Mainly I have tried to set a fixed time for training such as 60min or calorie consumption goal such as 500cal but it still keeps interrpting during the session and there is no way to get that untracked data after session. It is so dissapointing and frustrating every time.
Knowing the Google aqcuisition and muscles I whised there were more financial resources to develop excisting services and customer loyality, but I don see any concrete actions yet. To simplify, Fitbit needs to keep selling the products, but Google wants to gather the user activity data so the actual products working properly also for current or older models should be a real concern to the company.
So please update the Fitbit Charge 3 firmware and software to work better and provide the option for the users to have the control over starting and ending their excercise. You can collect my data and target me the advertisement. It should be a win-win deal.

Have had my fitbit for nearly a year (Charge 3) and didn't have a problem with the auto record of exercise until today. I'm thinking it must be related to my updating the App last night. I'm disheartened to see so many ppl having the problem here - and the fact that it seems to be ongoing.

It's hilarious that DavideFitbit has stopped responding to everyone's "known issue" with the Charge 3 stopping in the middle of tracking exercise. Equally hilarious and down right disgusting is that this "known issue" had been ongoing for over a year know. It just started happening to me rendering the product useless. I will never buy another Fitbit product and will make sure I let everyone else know how grossly ineffective their company, customer service and products are. #fitbitfail

I’m having the same trouble. My Fitbit charge three resets in the middle of a boot camp workout. I’ve read all the threads and this does seem pretty unacceptable to me. What is the defect number at Fitbit, and the status of the update. When can we expect to see it in a release? Please respond ASAP

And now I'm stuck with a Fitbit that I can't use because it doesn't work properly.
And now I'm getting emails from Fitbit pushing their new Charge 4. WHAT?!
How about helping the people that purchased the Charge 3!
They should've given us all a Charge 4 for selling us a useless piece of _____.

Hi, I seem to have same issue also. I go out running and the last two times it’s stops measuring my run (first time after 6k, second time after 2k).
also I find my screen the touch to it isn’t working to well it goes blank a lot so it takes ages to view anything and get anywhere to look at my count or go anywhere in the menu.
synchronising is really slow too l. I have to reset and restart it quite regularly.
i only brought this in December 😞
any advice would be much appreciated, thanks

I returned my Charge 3 within two months of purchasing and replaced it with a Garmin watch. I'll never look back. It's been a year since I've had mine, so it's interesting to see nothing has been fixed. My boyfriend has an Ionic and it worked for the first 6 months and now he has nothing but issues with his activity tracking.
I'll honestly never buy a Fitbit product again. They're good as a glorified pedometer to track steps only, and track sleep well, but other than that I'd never recommend them for anyone who's regularly active.

Good evening,
My charge 3 has started to stop activity tracking during exercise. In brief I have auto track on but manually start the activity, however it stops tracking during exercise and I lose information. I have tried reset and resync. Please advise asap.

@sezhutch if it's not too late, I'd return it and buy something else. They've known about this problem for a year and a half and haven't even tried to fix it.

What kind of an answer to the problem is "but we haven't received any other updates for the moment."?
Both my wife and I had the original Charge HR and never had any problems with them other than after 5 years they began to not hold a charge anymore... so we switched to Charge 3. Both of our Charge 3's are now randomly stopping in the middle of our walks and hikes after having them for only a few months.
How about either fixing the problem or sending us new Charge 4s that work!!!
