Charge 3 stopped tracking during exercise

My charge 3 said 3,000 steps prior to my afternoon walk.  When I returned after 35 minutes of walking it was only 3,600. Normally it is >2000 steps.  Has anyone else seen this?    Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have the same problem with runs and cycling. I have to use Strava on my phone to accurately monitor/measure exercise, plus the screen is invisible in sunlight so there is no way of monitoring stats during the activity. How can I get a refund under warranty? I purchased the watch in April. Thanks

This so annoying, it happens to me all the time, twice today and least 3 times last week, and by reading this thread there is still no fix from Fitbit after what looks like 2 years of this issue happening. This is unacceptable and perhaps it’s time for me to look elsewhere for fitness tracking.

Im also having the same problem.

Its been happening for the last couple of weeks. I did 2 different workouts today & it decided to track my 2nd workout for the last 15mins of my cool down. Its very frustrating.

I only got my Fitbit charge 3 in may but looks like ill be changing it for a garmin too.

Hello, can I please have some info as to what Fitbit did to fix these issues as I am having the same issues and nothing seems to fix it, I have tried all the resolutions on this thread. My Fitbit never automatically tracks a walk (all of my walks are longer than an hour) and randomly cuts out during extra long walks without. The other day I lost an hour of my walk and the automatic tracking never picked it up either so I lost an hours worth of calorie tracking. If this is an issue to the charge 3 then it needs to be discontinued, giving al charge 3 owners a different range of Fitbit for free! until it has been improved.

They haven’t done anything. The issue was first reported within a couple
months of release in fall, 2018. They have no intention of fixing it and
are just scamming people by continuing to sell it.

I have a Charge 2 and my wife a Charge 3.  When I start an exercise on my Charge 2 I have no issues it never stops abruptly.  The Charge 3, as reported by many in this thread, stops very often.  My wife usually tracks walks/runs so that she has the map and details after the exercise.  We believe to have found a workaround for this.  If before starting the exercise you "Force Close" the FitBit app from the mobile device and then start the exercise (from the Charge 3) and wait for the "Connected" message, then Charge 3 does not stop.  It is very cumbersome but at least seems to work.  What I cannot understand is why this known issue has been unsolved since 2 years now.  Definitely will think twice to upgrade to another FitBit.

Hi guys, I’ve posted earlier about some tracking interruption issues. Lately I’ve had quite positive experience with different sport session tracking. The latest firmware update to device itself and some app update might have solved some issues too.

My device is Charge 3 and it is about 1,5 years old now. I mostly go to gym, play soccer and go jogging or walking. I wear my Fitbit 24/7, even in shower and sauna with no problem. I charge the device once a week.

So even after mixed feeling experience of tracking, I’m still using the device everyday, value the overall view for my wellness including sleep quality, active minutes and resting heart beat levels and feel that it has definately been a worth of money.

Hello David.

I just started working out again and noticed there's no more exercise, run, walk swim on the watch. So when I'm doing my cardio warm up there's nothing the click for that. I did an almost 1 hr workout today and I pushed hard. Says I only have 11 lightning bolt min.  Did I miss something? TIA

That's ridiculous.  Thank goodness I don't have to restart all my electronics every day before using them.  Really fitbit....you think that's acceptable?

Mine has been doing this maybe 2-3 times a week at least. I reset the device and it still happens. When will Fitbit fix this issue?

Mine was still in warranty and they sent me a new one for free, it most certainly shouldn’t be doing it and nothing fixed it for me. I had to get a new one which luckily was free due to warranty

I can tell you all the same issues excist on the Charge 4. Just finished a 55 minute cycling session. It stopped tracking after 1,5 km of a 28 km ride... Kcal got tracked, and time, but the GPS just stopped after 1,5 km, and its even phone assisted since the watch itself started to take alot of "shortcuts".

It happens every now and then.

I complained about it to WilsonFitbit above about it not being fixed and my unwillingness to purchase another FitBit because of it and he private messaged me and told me that he deleted my post because it wasn't "relevant to the threads subject".  Guess I have to specifically say that my FitBit continues to stop tracking exercises even after following through with reboots. An unresolved issue going back to before 2018 (per this thread) and the company still can't help people...instead, they delete posts.

Hello,
When my complaint was made, a new Fitbit was sent free of charge and was admitted that that is a fault among them which rightfully they took ownership of and sorted the issue. Anyone having this issue deserve new fitbits as my new one hasn’t done this once.

I've tried resetting it to no avail. It continues to do this.

A few weeks ago, my Fitbit stopped auto detecting my daily walks. I'm wondering if it's a glitch in an app update? Anyone else run into this problem?

(I've reset it, reinstalled the app, and resynced it--that didn't do anything.)
