Looks like I’m another statistic wrt Fitbit Charge 3 and the HR function packing in. Another random electronic failure which seems too common.

I’ve had mine for just over 3 months and everything was fine until the beginning of this week. Firstly the screen locked up, then, after reset I noticed the HR function not working. It hasn’t recorded my sleep this week and the HR function is either sometimes not working all together or is very erratic. I can check my proper HR with my polar chest strap when I use my treadmill plus I tried my wife’s Charge 3 and it displays same as the Polar.

I use the Charge 3 mostly for HR as that’s how I train but is useless at the moment. Having read loads of posts on here and other forums and, tried all ways of resetting/checking as advised by Fitbit, I’m now a frustrated Fitbit user. Will have to try CS to see what they say.

I have done all of the things I’ve read about on this feed and nothing helped. I decided to try them again, starting with plugging the usb into the computer, connecting the Fitbit and pressing the button for 8 seconds. It has been about 10 minutes and I have a horizontal line on the display...what does this mean?

Not sure. I’ve done all that the help team have told me to do to no avail except I have the lines going across my display as well now so you can’t see the whole numbers on the clock. Not good and as I said in my first post, the failure of the HR function seems to be a common fault.

i wonder if they have used the same HR technology for the FitBit Charge 4?

I hope the charge 4 is better! I’ve only had the charge 3 since Christmas!

my charge 3 has now stopped tracking for a week. it has no more flashing lights on the sensor. so it reports no heartrate nor sleep tracking. this is the primary reason i got Fitbit was sleep tracking. i tried restarting and resetting but nothing is working. this was also a replacement for the one i had which started getting black lines across the display. so now two have failed me.

I have given up on the Charge 3.  I got no help from the manufacturer so I have purchased another tracker for about 1/4th the price.  I haven't had it long enough to give it a recommendation but so far a charge lasts about 8 days so right there it's much better.

Yeah, that's maddening. I bought a new one and it's been ok. Good luck.

My heart rate is no longer tracking. The fit bit has been Temperamental since the update and once I went through all the protocol to uninstall and reinstall it works great except for the heart rate. I’ve reinstalled three times now,  rebooted twice, no green light is showing, I’ve changed the fastening on the band and switched hands. No heart rate is registering and I have not had this but a few months. My first one lasted me over three years.

The charge 3 heart rate monitoring stops constantly. Last night I got no sleep tracking because the monitoring stopped for close to 12 hours. I had to take the fitbit off, and literally wave it around in the air to get it to restart. I'm using the band that came with it, keeping it fairly snug. My wife has the same problem with her charge 3. They are brand new, less than a month old. I am coming to the conclusion that the Charge 3 is garbage, as so many other folks seem to have this issue. My charge two gave me no such grief. I am starting to regret my purchase of the fitbit and will be giving the 3 a rather lousy review. If you think I'm going to pay 10 bucks a month for data this thing doesn't even collect half the time, then you got rocks in your noggins. This will be my last fitbit. I'm really disappointed in this particular product.

I had the same problem with my Charge 3 and Fitbit sent me a new one. My Charge 2 was a workhorse and I never had a problem until last week when it finally stopped working after four years.

My heart rate monitor stopped working yesterday. I have tried all tips listed and still not working. The green lights are not flashing on the back of my watch. I have reset, cleared data, tried turning heart rate on and off dozens of times.

Contact Fitbit. When my fitbit’s heart rate monitor stopped working, Fitbit sent me a new unit.

I now feel like I've followed everything on this thread. Changed setting on the app. Turned off and on in settings. Restarted by pressing the battery button for 8 seconds (multiple times). Restarted in settings (multiple times). I've tightened the band. Swapped wrists. I've actually spent a crazy amount of time trying to fix this. I have no heart rate getting registered on my charge 3. Its just greyed out on the device.

Can i just return it somewhere and get someone to look at it?

I'm seriously losing the will and I only want it for the calories. I get everything else i need from strava. My Fitbit feels useless.

Call customer support. They replaced mine; it was still under warranty.
Good luck!

I gave up on Fitbit. I have had one type or another since before 2012. Each on had one problem or they quit just when a new type launched. One of my Charge 3 died after 2 months and it took customer service over 4 months and many e-mails and different instructions to replace it. The replacement lasted a little longer but by then the warranty had expired. They only cover the original one for 12 months no matter if the replacement dies in 2-3 months. I purchased a Garmin vivosmart 4 from Amazon and love it!
