Hi, @Newfielass62 , I would recommend giving your Fitbit a restart.  Instructions are here .  That is always the first troubleshooting step when your Fitbit is not behaving as expected.

You should also check in your app to make sure that automatic tracking of swimming has not been set to “ignore”.  In your app from the opening screen please click on the gear icon top right.  On the next screen click on Activity and Wellness and then on Exercise.  On the exercise screen please check that swimming tracking is enabled.  Also you may want to set it to the shortest time of the activity before it is recognized (10 minutes).

Please bear in mind that if your Fitbit is not tracking any given exercise automatically, you can always track that activity using your exercise app - which is also likely to give you a somewhat more accurate record of your workout.

You may also find this help article useful as it gives full details on how to track your exercise using your Fitbit.
