Charge 3 stopped working after water exposure

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I wore my Charge 3 in the sea today for about 5minutes (it's supposed to be waterproof) and it started vibrating erratically then completely switched off. I've left it all day to dry out and tried to charge it and reset it but it's completely blank and unresponsive. I've only had it since December.

Any advice or just give up and return it?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @EHawkes11.

I am sorry to hear your Charge 3 tracker stopped working after you wore it in the sea. Thanks for trying to resolve this, I appreciate the additional details and I am here to help. Charge 3 is swimproof in a lake, pool, or ocean (up to 50 meters) and I recommend following our complete troubleshooting instructions in this help article: Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

If the issue persists, please try doing a long restart:

  • Connect the device to the charging cable.
  • While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  • The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration
  • The device turns off.
  • The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  • Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  • Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Regarding your concern, Fitbit has a 45-day return policy, so anything purchased directly from Fitbit can be returned for a refund for any reason within 45 days of shipment. If you've purchased from a retailer, you'll need to return your product directly to the retailer, following their return process. This is generally printed on your receipt, though you can also find it on the retailer's website. You can read our full return policy here

Keep me posted on the outcome. I'll be around if you have any additional questions.
