Charge 3 stops tracking when achieving 10,000 steps

Lately my Fitbit charge 3 has stopped tracking my walk as soon as it achieves 10,000 steps. During the walk when it gets to 10,000 steps it vibrates and shows the celebration notification, then jt turns off the tracking and goes back to clock face and it's as if the activity never happened. Doesn't get synced to the app on my phone or appear on the Fitbit. Really annoying.

Could it be that it just hasn't synced yet to get step count back to phone?  It doesn't automatically sync as soon as you reach your goal.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

No, the app is synced, in terms of it shows that I walked more than 10,000 steps today, but the activity I was tracking at the time (walk) stopped tracking as soon as the notification for 10,000 steps popped up on my watch. So the app doesn't show that I did a walk with the usual map and distance etc under activity section. Only does this when the activity is tracking at same time as 10,000 step notification, otherwise activities track fine.

Hello @Emmabez. Welcome to the community forums. @JohnnyRow Nice to see you around and thanks for your input.

@Emmabez Thank you very much for the detailed information. If you already performed a restart to your Charge 3, I'd recommend trying to perform a long restart which is different than the basic one. To complete the long restart, please follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

After performing the long restart, please keep an eye on the behavior of your Charge 3. In addition, please make sure to review this help article for tips and suggestions about tracking your activity with connected GPS: How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?
