Charge 3 stuck on the smiley face

My fitbit started cycling thru the screens on its own as if I was pressing the side button to turn the screen on and off. I tried resetting it, it powered off and has been stuck with the smiley face for 3 hours. Won’t fully power back on.

Hi there @Amhsghemh, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry for the late response. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Have you tried the long restart that @NellyG has recommended to you?

I'd also suggest to manually reboot your Charge 3. In order to do so, fom the clock face, swipe to Settings and tap Reboot Device

Hi @Amhsghemh Try and do a Long Restart. If that doesnt help you will need to contact Support.

Fitbit Support

CHARGE 3 LONG RESTART
Plug the device into the charging cable. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, hold the button down for 15 seconds. Remove your finger from button. Note: Device won't have a smiley face icon and should be off with a black screen. Remove the device from the charging cable. Plug the device into the charging cable again. The smiley face icon appears on the screen.

I guess I replied too quickly. Today my fitbit just has a black screen now.
I have tried all the steps again and it won't resolve it now.

Hello @Amhsghemh, thanks for getting back and letting me know that the back screen on your Charge 3 is back.

Since this sounds a bit more serious, I've created a support case on your behalf - you should soon receive an email from Customer Support at the email you used to register with the Community forums. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to let me know.

Hello

I have the same problem. My charge 3 started scrolling through the screens and the button is unresponsive. I have tried the long restart it only beeped 6 times (rather than 7). It didn't turn off but is now stuck on smiley face. I have tried log restart again but just returns to smiley face. There is no support available - they are not giving advice via email anymore, I have tried live chat but still waiting for help after an hour. I can't find a UK phone number. I don't know what to do
