Charge 3 swim information inaccurate

I have reviewed Fitbit support responses to the Charge 3 not recording swim lengths correctly but these seem to date back to 2018.  Does anyone have any recent advise on how to get correct length info?

I have set the Fitbit to the correct pool length, swim more than the minimum lengths recommended and do not take breaks but the Fitbit still only records about 70% of the lengths. I am now pausing at each end with the Fitbit out of the water to see if that helps, but no difference.

The Charge 3 was purchased as a Christmas present for me based on the advertising that it records swimming statistics, but so far it is falling short of the promise!

Welcome to the Forums, @LauraB20.

Thanks for troubleshooting this swim issue. Inconsistencies in your swim data may be caused by any of the following:

  • You completed only a few laps
  • You stopped to rest multiple times or in the middle of the pool
  • You stopped to rest for longer than 60 seconds after completing a pool length
  • You changed your stroke type midway through a length
  • You swam with a kickboard or without using your arms
  • You swam less than the minimum duration needed for your swim to be automatically recognized

Let me know the outcome. 🙂

Hi Alejandra,

Following up on your response, I have answered the questions below:

  • You completed only a few laps LB: I actually completed 44 lengths without a break
  • You stopped to rest multiple times or in the middle of the pool LB: I did not stop at all for the 40 minute swim
  • You stopped to rest for longer than 60 seconds after completing a pool length LB: I did not stop at all
  • You changed your stroke type midway through a length LB: Each length was consistency the same stroke
  • You swam with a kickboard or without using your arms LB: Neither - I swam standard breast and back stroke
  • You swam less than the minimum duration needed for your swim to be automatically recognized LB: As mentioned I swam for 40 minutes with no break

Please let me know what other options there are for fixing this issue, as the Fitbit does not appear to be accurately recording swimming data - thanks, Laura
