Charge 3 touchscreen not working

So I got mine a couple days ago but the touchscreen does not seem to be working. I tried swiping every which way and restarting the device multiple times but still nothing. I even had someone else try it in the event I was doing something incorrectly but still nothing. Tapping on the screen does nothing either. Anyone else having issues with it?

Hi, I’m having the same problem & like you thought it was just me initially. Thought at first it was because my fingers were wet when trying to record a swim, then maybe the screen had sun cream on. Decided to google it & found this....

my screen is not working it was vibrating.  I put a straight pen in the hole on the side and now it's not doing anything.  I tried all of the previous suggestions without success.

@111jenn111@I had the same dilemma as you. I plugged it in and nothing changed. While charging I held the button for a while and the screen went black. I then hit the button again and the smiley face came up. I hit the button once more and then everything was back to norma

I ended up giving up on mine. It started working intermittently, which was nice, but recently, the bluetooth stopped working, which meant I could not use my phone to sync the data anymore. Previously when the face stopped working, I could always count on the phone to sync the data, so I could at least track info that I could not readily access on my device.

Once the bluetooth died along with the touch screen, it was goodbye. The thing was useless and downright annoying. Migrated to Apple Watch and have been pleased.

Miss my FitBit One. That worked. The rest since then have just been a waste of money. And time.

I've had my Charge 3 for several months and suddenly the capacitive screen is not responding to anything but the initial tap.

Swiping elicits nothing. I've tried holding the button for 15 seconds while in charger cradle but didn't help 😞

I am having the exact same problem. I cannot swipe left, right, up or down. I have tried turning it off. I have tried a soft restart. I even removed it from the app and re-added. I am very frustrated. What will fix this?

Try just going to the app on the phone and change the close setting/look.
That is what I did and it brought it back to normal and I put my original
clock back on.

Thank you so much for your post - I had tried all the hard resets and charging suggestions to make my screen be responsive again and your simple solution of changing the face setting on the app worked!

Turning off the Bluetooth works! After trying all of the above suggestions, actually turned off my mobile device and used a simple wall USB charger to perform reset and worked flawlessly!!

Getting nowhere.  Tried a zillion resets.  Wouldn't swipe from the start.  Cannot not give this to my 80 year old Dad.  It is supposed to help him check his heart.  This is frustrating enough to stop it.

I was having the same issue. Tried to do the short and long resets, no response. Changing the clock face with my Fitbit plugged in and then taking it off the charger after the new clock face showed up on my Fitbit worked for me. I’ve had it for a little over 3 months and this is the first time this particular issue has come up for me (there have been plenty of other issues though, still unresolved).

  • I’ve said it several times in this thread. Get rid of it. Return it. And buy a Garmin. Customer service for Fitbit do not care. They will continue sending you defective products instead of fixing the issue. People don’t listen though so they continue to buy them. Just return it and go with Garmin. A way better product, no issues, and better customer service.

Agree. It is an unreliable device that is not worth keeping.

Well, I started relying on the apps on my phone, which I carry around nearly as much as I ever wore my fitbit. My experience has been that the phone apps offer more legitimate and accurate step counting - it is much more difficult to get to 10,000 steps than with my Fitbit 3, which allowed me to log steps while sitting still - and to climb stairs while doing nothing but standing still on escalators and elevators.

Downside is the phone doesn’t have the sleep tracker and blood pressure stuff, but at this point and on balance, the uselessness, frustration, and incorrect data logging with the Fitbit 3 demand an outcome that the worthless device be tossed until Fitbit returns to offering quality products.

Unfortunately, it seems the business model now is to offer products built to sell rather than to work, but hopefully Fitbit will go back to the greatness it once offered with products that really established the wearable tech market.

I recommend the Garmin vivoactive 3/ 3 music to almost everyone. It has way more activity settings, Vo2 max measurements, onboard gps, with the music edition you get 500 songs worth of storage, can be paired to external sensors and headphones, more accurate HR, abnormal HR detection, and live feed to allow family to watch your race (pace, speed, and location) live. Also has downloadable activities such as jump rope, hike, open water swim, maps, etc and includes workout downloads and golf course downloads. You get all of that for around 50 bucks more than the charge 3 and it works without issues. To all those who keep saying “I’ve already payed for the charge 3”, take it back. Fitbit, bestbuy, and pretty much all other retailers will give a full refund for a defective product. But the choice is yours, keep dealing with tedious Fitbit devices that don’t work, or just go with Garmin. Btw, for all the action camera users (GoPro, Garmin Virb, etc) Garmin devices can usually pair with the cameras to add time stamps and speed stamps and allows you to control the camera from your watch.
