Charge 3 track a huge amount of steps while sleeping

Ive woken up and my steps read 55,400. It's

clearly an error and nothing to do with the fit bit recording false movements on a dominant hand.

Any ideas?. I charged it before bed, and had clocked up ,10,900 steps that day and wore the fitbit to bed.

Hi @BevL2020, it's great to see you in our Fitbit Community. Regarding the huge steps count issue that your Charge 3 experienced, I'd like you to restart it as described in this help article. After this, check out this help page, which explains why your Fitbit device may track extra steps.

Finally, monitor your tracker and see if the issue doesn't happen again.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

Ive tried rebooting 3 times today and theres no difference. The amount of steps (54,000) is not explained by the article you referred me to it has nothing to do with stride or dominant hand. I woke up with it like that, its recording my daily steps accurately its just adding them to the 54,000

Hi @BevL2020, thank you for getting back. Since the issue persists, I'd like you to try one more workaround, which has been helpful for this type of issues. Please try a long restart. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.
  8. Set up your tracker from scratch.

After this, keep monitoring your tracker during the next 24 hours and see if it stops adding steps.

Let me know how it goes.
