Charge 3 tracking too many floors

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Charge 3 is counting floors that don't exist.

Today it counted 50 floors and I used the elevator.

It started happening two days ago.

Someone having this issue?

Welcome on board @eduss40, it's nice to see you around! Thanks for taking the time to report the situation you are experiencing with your Charge 3 tracking floors.

In this case, there are a couple of things that may be causing your tracker to record extra floors. It's inner altimeter will calculate altitude based on atmospheric pressure. Pressure changes due to things like weather or gusts of wind may record floors. Check more information here.

Now, if the tracker continues to do this everyday;  please perform a restart on it. That should certainly help you out with this.

I recently upgraded from charge 2 to a charge 3. The charge 3 tracks way too many stairs...like 50 flight  in 1 day too many. It also seems to be way more sensitive tracking excessive steps as well. I have tried resetting and the problem does not change. At this point, I would rather have kept my charge 2.

Hi, I, too, am experiencing a count of stairs/floors that is WAY off.  I have restarted my Charge 3 to no avail.  This is NOT a good way of helping.  Find a solution that WORKS.  My Charge 2 had accurate floor readings, and this is an expensive upgrade.

I am having the same issue with the stairs, though it doesn't record too many steps.  My Charge 2 always had the right number of floors, but would count steps when I typed. (I'd have to take it off to type.)  Yesterday it counted 21 floors, and I went up our stairs 5 times. The rest had to be when I *drove* to work, which involves about a 750' elevation change (uphill).

Yep, owned mine for 3 days. As soon as I got to work yesterday, I racked up 2200 steps and 15 floors (while driving I might add). Checked a few messages on the community and see this is a common occurrence for Charge 3. By the time I got home, I had almost 50 floors, 10,000 steps and had almost an hour's worth of Activity minutes. While watching TV and restarting the Charge3, I racked up even more steps and floors while sitting on the couch.

Today I was able to contact a more than willing agent from Fitbit. Let's see, I had to set stride length manually. Did the step test. walked 6 lengths of 100 steps each after restarting Charge3 two times. Fitbit ranged from 58 to 89 steps for my 100. While driving, it added another 660 steps. Just got home and performed the "Long Restart" don't know if it worked or not. I really doubt that it did anything.

I really want this to work. My Microsoft Band finally failed after 4 years and I thought I found the almost perfect replacement.

Because my Charge 3 was counting way too many floors, I had it replaced under warranty.  The new Charge 3 is also counting too many floors (10 floors while walking 1 km on level ground at sea level).  It also count some of my walking as bicycling.  I am 67.  I am healthy but I don't walk THAT fast!  I am thinking of going back to my old Charge 1.  I'd need to glue it to a watch band since the original band fell apart ages ago.  Charge 3 is turning into a very disappointing (and expensive) upgrade.

I keep having the problem.

Now whenever I drive, it also counts stairs. I drove 170 km and when I arrived to my destination my device counted 58 floors!

This bug has to be fixed.

All the workout is compromised by it.

Very annoying!

So, the recent update to Version 20001.63.5 seems to have made it all worthwhile (at least for me).

The most recent update actually broke things for me.  I was getting accurate(ish) floor counts and after the latest update, my floors somehow tripled (some days even quadrupled).  I have restarted the device twice, with the same results.  I'm thinking of going back to my Charge 2 as well.

I keep having the same problem when I drive.

Drove 170 km and Charge 3 counted 11 floors!

I recently got two badges for floor counts - one for 150 floors in a day and a few days later, 175 floors in a day.      Step count ends up being ok, but if I look at the app on my PC in will often start out with an overcount of 30,000 or 40,000 steps and then a few minutes later show the more reasonable, assumedly accurate number.   Very flaky.    Will try the reboot, but I am guessing this is a software problem.
