Charge 3 with black lines and battery drainage

Good day

I have had my Fitbit charge 3 for close to two years now. About three days ago it started getting black lines on the screen. I rebooted and restarted the watch while it was plugged in multiple times. I have also tried changing the clock face after the reboots.

As of yesterday, the watch died unexpectedly. I charged it and within hours it died again. It was rebooted and restarted once again.

Please help.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Rhulani. Thank you for letting us know about the steps you have followed in order to remove the black lines on your Charge 3.

Could you please confirm that you have tried the long restart:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

I have just tried this method. It did not show the battery icon while I was holding down on the button. The progress bar only gave me 6 vibrations. But then I removed it and plugged it in again. It did not seem to fix the black lines.

I then retried the method two more times, but then it did not give me the short and medium vibrations both times.
