Charge 3 won't charge after latest update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I downloaded the latest update and now my Fitbit won't charge. When I put it in the charger it doesn't connect and doesn't vibrate.

I've tried to restart it but it just changes to the screen wake/notifications settings screen. Can anyone help?

Welcome on board @Amanda10, it's nice to see you around here! Thanks for trying to restart your Charge 3 in order to the battery issues. Nice way to go!

Please take a look at the help article Why isn't my battery charging? and follow the instructions provide there.

We recommend to charge your trackers via the USB port over a wall adapter. However, it is also possible to charge your Fitbit tracker with a UL certified wall adapter. What may actually cause damage to the tracker's battery (either on a computer or a wall adapter) is the charging time, which if excessive over time may damage the battery and therefore cause quick battery drain or prevent the tracker from charging at all.

Tips to best charge Fitbit trackers are:

  • Use only genuine Fitbit charging cables
  • Use only UL-certified wall chargers
  • Avoid USB battery packs
  • Charge at room temperature

For charging purposes, your charging cable can be plugged into any USB power source, including but not limited to:

  • A computer
  • A Wall A/C to USB adapter, commonly found with smartphones
  • A DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port)

Let me know if you need anything else.

Hi Marrefibit,

Thanks for getting back to me. Its charging now the connectors needed
cleaning. But it still doesn't vibrate when connected for some reason,
unless that was part of the update.

Still have the issue of not being able to reset. When connected I press the
button for 8 secs, sometimes more but it just changes to the
'notification'/'screen on' screen.

Regards

Amanda

Hi there @Amanda10, thanks for coming back and for sharing the outcome of the recommendations provided. Robot Very Happy

If your device is not vibrating or restarting, from the clock face, swipe to Settings and tap Reboot Device

Then once again, follow the restart instructions below.

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Let me know if your Charge 3 can vibrate and be restarted after the reboot.

I'll be here, keep me in the loop.

I am having the same problem.  When I place the Fitbit in the charging cradle it does not vibrate or charge.  I have tried the charging cable in different charging plugs (nothing happens).    I have cleaned the connections as recommend (with alcohol wipe), rebooted the device, and then tried to do reboot with the Fitbit in the cradle and still nothing.  When I tried to reboot in the cradle I don’t get a smiley face, or a vibration, the screen just turns off.

what is the solution?  I’m ready to toss this piece of junk and buy an Apple Watch.  Plus I really don’t want to call customer service and speak to someone on a bad long distance connection.

Hi there, I ended up buying another charger as all the 'solutions' didn't
work.

Was pretty cheap, got it on Amazon.

I update my Fitbit and it was working fine after the update. I plugged it in to charge overnight and it now is just a black screen. Won’t charge, doesn’t vibrate or even appear to be getting anything from charger. I cleaned everything, tried different outlets and directly into usb - nothing.

seriously might just go buy the new Apple 5 it is so frustrating and wait times for customer service are ridiculously long 😕

After having 3 fitbits in just over 2 years and all stop working, I gave up
in the end.

I bought a Samsung Active 2 and its working perfectly. 🙂
