Trying to pair new Charge 3 with Samsung S8. The Bluetooth sees the Charge 3 but doesn't pair successfully. I have tried 2 ways, without success:
- Restarted both the Charge 3 and phone
- Fitbit app account page, tap on set up a new device, select Charge 3, tap on 'set up your Fitbit Charge 3' and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

I already had Automatic Location turned on, but I turned it off and turned it back on, and voila! It instantly connected (after removing it and trying unsuccessfully to pair again on several devices). I still can't pair to the devices I had removed it from, but I expect I'll get there. At least my steps have updated in the app, and I won't lose them if I have to delete data (or switch back to my Alta). Thank you!

Tried that, still not working. Worked fine for the first 3 days connected to my Samsung galaxy s7. Then it just stopped. Have tried all the rebooting etc...

Please be clear .. how to solve the paring issue. I read the post and hit the 3 links noted in "best answer" and they are not clear at all.
after months of working my charge 3 lost the paring with the phone. the phone bluetooth sees the charge 3 but will not pair.

Just throwing my 2c here. So I JUST bought my Fitbit Charge 3 last week and all was going fine for about 3 days and then it started refusing to sync. I saw Jogirl1964's post in this thread https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-3/Charge-3-won-t-pair/m-p/4147097/highlight/true#M132072 and that worked for me --
In the phone app, go to account -> Advanced Settings -> Location and toggle "Automatic" off and back on (or on and off). This somehow seems to force a reset because once I did that, the device immediately sync'd 2 days of data to my phone and everything went back to normal!

100% agree and it sort of puts me on my guard, I won't hesitate to return it if I continue to have problems... I got it to make my life easier, not to have yet one more thing that controls my life.

I'm in the same boat. This is by far the worst product and the service is terrible.

Today was the first time I had seen the info about "automatic location". I have even gotten a replacement device from Fitbit because mine has been problematic since January 2020. It looks like this has been a known issue for 2 years and now they have released the charge 4. I have now set up 4 of the charge 3 devices. My two and two for my BFF and her hubby and I am utterly disgusted by the lack of support from Fitbit as a company. I am appalled that they even have a banner recommending the community for help instead of themselves!!!!! If this replacement device continues to act up, I will be seeking another tracking device company.

I have been having the same issue. The process I have used twice now to fix this is
1. Reinstalled app on phone
2. restart phone
3. restart fitbit device
4. go though app set up/device setup.
This time I have made sure the automatic location is on. So we'll see if this thing craps out again. If it does Its still under warranty. I'll get a replacement then sell that and then go with a different brand fitness tracker.

I am having difficulty pairing my Fitbit 3 (not 4) to my phone.
When I am entering food calories into my app, it is now entering them on the wrong date.
I have tried multiple times to pair my Fitbit 3 (not 4) to my phone.
Can you provide a step by step instruction on how to do this? And then, a back up plan if the step by step instructions do not work?
Thank.

So far everything I have done does not work, tried going to recommend sites from Fitbit and all that I can find is everything for the charge 4 not the 3. Entered pass code several times and keep getting (there was a problem communicating with your tracker. Please try again). Not worth the hassle anymore, just gonna toss it in the trash

I have the same problem. The moderator reply gives no information whatsoever. Neither does the useless link she recommends. Disgusted with this level of apathy.

Your link gives no useful information. This is not my first fitbit but it is certainly my last.
I will be returning.

I am not a moderator, I asked a question is all. Don't have a clue how to get rid of this.

How did you "reset" the data on the tracker? I can get past the scrolling screen with the URL of how to set it up. I still can't pair - not on two Samsung phones and my laptop. They all try to connect, then time out.
