Charge 3 won't receive text messages

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've read every article and forum about this topic. I've tried every single suggestion for fixing it including turning on every notification in the app and phone setting, resetting Bluetooth, all-day sync is on etc.  My Charge receives calls but never text messages. I have an iPhone if that matters.

I saw a forum that the charge 2 had this issue, but I was hoping the 3 would work considering it is supposed to notify messages and it's been 2 years since the company was aware of this issue.

My old Alta use to receive them. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the Community Forums @leigh11! Thanks for all the steps you've tried so far in order to solve the issue with the text messages not coming through your Charge 3. Nice way to go!

Since your Charge 3 is still not getting your text messages, please try the following:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app
  3. Tap on Account > Charge 3 > Notifications
  4. When a pop-up with a "Bluetooth Pairing Required" message, tap on Set Up and continue.
  5. A new "Bluetooth Pairing Request" will appear, tap on Pair to continue
  6. Once in the Notifications menu, enable the ones you'd like to receive.
  7. Go to your phone Settings > Notifications > Fitbit and make sure the following is enabled:
    • Allow Notifications
    • Show on Lock Screen
    • Show in History

If the steps suggested above don't work, please follow the troubleshooting steps provided in the help article: My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone.

By the way, may I have the name of the text message app you're trying to get notifications from?

@MarreFitbit The pop up never appeared when I went into Notifications.

I had the same issue with a brand new one I just bought. I think I may have had my messaging app not notifying correctly. Things I had to do were to completely remove my app too for the Fitbit. Clear the device from Bluetooth, remove from your Fitbit account, delete app, restart the fit bit( you have to have it plugged in and hold the button until the while line is all the way across the screen) if you let go too soon it stops the rest and just gives the smile and turns back on. After doing all that get the app again and try connecting. The prompt to pair will appear only in the Fitbit app that I saw. So after you hit the first pop up to go into the settings go back to the app. You should now finally be linked. Note your messenger must have the “notification banner” option selected this is the type of banner that will show on the watch. Hope this helps, I know it’s a pain but don’t give up. It should work at least with an iPhone.

I tried all that.  Unpaired and repaired, changed notifications, made sure background data was on, power cycled the fitbit. It's a wee bit frustrating
