Charge 3 won’t stay connected to Bluetooth

Please help!!! My charge 3 will not stay connected to my Bluetooth! I have restarted the Bluetooth on my phone, restarted my phone, restarted the Fitbit! Still the same. I have to go in multiple

times a day to connect and I can’t pair the Fitbit so I get text notifications! I got it as a Christmas gift but have had fitbits in the past... I must say I’m very disappointed in this one so far!

Welcome on board @Staceymaria, it's nice to see you here! I'd recommend trying the steps provided in the article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

If the issue persist, please go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and remove the tracker. In the list of Bluetooth devices you'll see the Charge 3 and next to it, this symbol "!". Hit the symbol and it will take you to the next step, once you're there select the option that says "Forget this device" or "Unpair".

Note that if your phone is managing multiple Bluetooth connections simultaneously:

  • Your Fitbit device might stop syncing or stop receiving notifications.
  • You can experience interruptions with any consistently streaming Bluetooth connection such as headsets, car kits, stereo audio, tethering, and file transfers.

These interruptions are typically caused by operating system and Bluetooth limitations. It's also possible that an app on your phone is causing the issue.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions present.

Thanks for the reply! I have tried all of

your suggestions, multiple times! I have seen many comments here and it seems that there are a lot of people having the same issue. Could there be an issue with the charge 3 perhaps?!

Today has been the worst day yet! I done a complete reboot of everything last night and it worked for a few short hours. Now it won’t connect at all! This is so aggravating! Got to say, I was so excited to get my Charge 3 because I loved my 2 so much! As of now I will never purchase another Fitbit! And the amount of people having the same problem... come on! It obviously is more than a reboot!! Please fix this!!

Hi! I’m feeling your pain, I have the same problem with my Fitbit, very frustrating isn’t it!

MarreFitbit, when you say it could be another app causing this problem, could you explain how you would go about locating this app, without deleting each one individually?

Also, I’ve always been able to connect to my Fitbit Surge, Bluetooth speakers, an in car kit throughout the day without any of them dropping connection & having to reinstall them. So why would the new Charge 3 be any different. Surely you can have more than one Bluetooth connection?

I’m on reboot number 5 just today!! Getting to the point I may just bring it back!! No point in having a tracker if you can’t maintain your data!

If I delete the Fitbit app and reinstall I sounder would that help?! I’m sure someone has done it by now! Looks like they need to send out another system update or something?!?

I got my charge 3 as a  Christmas present and it has been a nightmare trying to keep it connected via bluetooth. I've tried installing/reinstalling the app. I 've tried it on a blackberry priv, an apple ipod and even an iMac. Yes, I tried all the tricks dicsuused in various forums. None of these devices were able to locate it via bluetooth. And tell my why it is so difficult to reboot this device??? I'm ready to dump this **ahem**.   I had a Microsoft band 2 and that thing was flawless. Worked like a charm on all devices AND it had built-in GPS - no need to use my phone's GPS. Anyone want to buy my charge3? 😞

I’ve deleted the app & reinstalled several times now,  & it does fix it for a while. For me it lasted the rest of the day, then when I woke up the following day, it had stopped. It also dropped the connection after I had connected to my car kit, worked fine as I got into the car, by the time I had finished my journey the Fitbit was not receiving notifications. Whether that was a coincidence or not, I’m not sure. Very frustrating though!

I’d definitely say it’s worth reinstalling the app, you never know it may fix it for you, it’s worth a try! Unfortunately, it’s not the permanent fix I’ve been looking for, so come on Fitbit, work your magic!

Something is clearly very wrong with the bluetooth signal in the Charge 3. It worked most of the time before I did the update. It has synced since. I've deleted the app and reinstalled. I've disconnected other bluetooth devices and reconnected them. So it isn't my phone that is the problem. Very frustrating and annoying.

So really it seems there is no solution. At least mine worked the first day so I know it can.  Is there a solution to keep it paired? I reinstalled and reconnected but this is only shows my info to dash not my emails etc to watch.

Mine worked first day so I know it can but since then it has to be paired again to get info to dash & phone to watch has stopped all together. Come on Fitbit... don't leave us all down!

I'm waiting for Fitbit to send another version update. Mine was working well before the latest. Now it won't stay connected. It worked well with the Charge 2. My Garmin is also on the bluetooth but it always has been and why should that be a problem with the updated 3 but not the previous version or the 2??

So, I have tried the following method, & so far the Charge 3 has kept the connection for 2 days. So for me this fixed the issue. It’s on an iPhone 6s by the way.

1. Fotget Bluetooth connection of Charge 3 in iPhone settings.

2. Turn off Bluetooth, then back on, on iPhone.

3. Reset the iPhone & Charge 3

4. Once both rebooted, go into Fitbit app & access notifications.

5. Set up notifications in the normal manner.

For some reason this seems to have worked for the time being, until the next update........

Hope it works for you.

Part of my problem is that I cannot restart the charge 3. That haptic feedback button is not very helpful. I "hold" it for 8 seconds ( or more) but nothing happens. I've placed it in the charger and tried holding the button - still nothing! One person suggested I try holding the button while pressing on the screen. That has worked a total of two times. More miss that hit 😞 And we make fun of Microsoft and their ctrl-alt-delete sequence . Right now I'm waiting for the battery to drain so that maybe, just maybe, it will restart and re-connect.

Knock on wood... mine has been working since my last charge! I went through
all the steps again when my battery drained, forgot device, reset my Fitbit
and it worked. Well for now! I’m almost due to charge the battery again and
I’m nervous it will put me back in the same situation!!

Good luck!!

I finally got mine to work when I deleted the app and reinstalled it.

I am also so frustrated. I took back my versa....which was such a great looking fit bit but it also would not connect to Bluetooth. I ordered the Charge 3 and it worked for 2 days now it won't connect  or sync. Really?????? Fit bit needs to workout these bugs or they will take a huge crash in the market! I had the Fit bit ONE and never had issues. With new technology we have more issues. I shouldn't be spending so much time on this....it really is aggravating.

I have this same issue and have followed all of the instructions and repaired my device several times and reached out to Fitbit help multiple times but its only fixed for an hour. I'm not getting any notifications as a result and I don't think instructing people to continuously restart or repair the device is an accepted solution; especially whereas its directly related to the firmware update. Is there a real solution being developed?

Do you lose your data when you do that?

No you shouldn’t as long as it synced before you deleted! My data from 2
years ago is still there after not having a Fitbit for a year and a half!
Mine is still working... going on 2 weeks now without a hitch! Hopefully
it’s solved!
