Charge 3 won't stay turned on unless it's plugged into charge

I've had this a week and it's worked alright apart from struggling to find my device to sync, but now it has just turned off and I can't get it to stay turned on unless it's plugged into charge.

It does have enough battery because its been on or around 85% all day now.

I have tried the reset however the smiley face just appears and now its gone back off again until I have it plugged into charge.

Any advice?

@Jack.Stirling Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for already restarting your Charge 3. Nice way to go!

Please charge your device at least 1 hour (even if it has enough power to be on). Then, perform a long restart by following the steps below:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again

I tried all that... the cleaning... the different ports... the rebooting... even wiped it clean with a reset... but still the moment I take it off the charger... out... its really new... feels like I wasted money... its frustrating.

I’ve been having this exact problem with my Fitbit Charge 3 as well. I’ve followed everything step by step, and after recharging it, it acts as if it’s dead and I have to repeat the process. To be exact, I’ll write down everything I do step-by-step as per were the instructions given to restarting the Fitbit Charge 3.

1. Connected the device to the charging cable.

2.Held both buttons for 15 seconds.

3. The device did not show a battery icon. Instead it did one long buzz, showed a loading bar, and proceeded to shortly buzz 6 times as the bar loaded.

4. The device does not turn off, and proceeds to stay on the loading screen between 5 to 10 minutes. First time it took longer.

5. The device then shows the Home Screen and the Battery Icon is flickering as if it’s dead. When swiped up to check on the battery %, it either showed a 0% or — icon.

6. Removed the Charge 3 from the charger, the screen goes blank. Proceeded to put it back on and a smile appears on the screen.

7. The screen goes back to the Home Screen and the battery is flashing dead. If I go to swipe up to check the battery %, it again shows 0% or the — icon.

8. I reconnect the Charge 3 to the mobile App. The App shows it’s at 85% and there’s nothing amiss. I can change the clock, etc., while it’s still on the charger.

9. I went to check the battery % on the Charge 3 and it shows 100%, despite the App showing 85%.

10. I take the Charge 3 off the charger and it completely shuts down. The App then gives a giant Error screen.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is it a defect? Please advise.
