Charge 3 won’t sync and won’t pair after removing it

I know there are only like 3 people that have this device right now, but if anyone else that has it can check...is yours syncing ok? Mine last synced 4 hours ago and when trying to force a manual sync it wouldn’t get past “looking.” I tried the usual fixes - turning bluetooth off and on, removing the C3 from the app and my phone and attempting to re-add it, power cycling my phone...nothing works. The user manual says to press the side button for 8 seconds to reset, but all that does is bring up the screen wake/notifications toggle screen. Just issues due to it being new/unreleased, or is it possible it crapped out on me already?!

Current::: Charge 3, Aria /// Retired::: Flex, Charge HR, Blaze, Versa, Charge 2

I have had pretty much the exact same issue as joseph92. My device was failing to sync even after resetting it, and kept saying that it needed to update, but it wouldn't let me because it kept trying to sync. I turned off all sync settings, but it still kept trying to sync. Finally I got it to stop trying to sync just by waiting for it to fail I think, at which point I told it to update and it told me it couldn't because the app needed updating. Since the app seemed to have no update option and my phone was fully updated I decided to delete the app and reinstall it. At this point I needed to go through the connection process again.

I cleared the device from my phone's bluetooth settings (my phone is a samsung galaxy s7 by the way), restarted the phone, and tried to connect, but it kept failing. It would always get passed the "searching for device" step, but would fail at the "connecting to device" step. I reset the fitbit multiple times, and my phone multiple times with turning off bluetooth (at this point my fitbit had made it to full charge as well), I deleted and reinstalled the app a few times as well, and still couldn't get it to connect. Finally I did all of this again after doing the factory reset, continued to see nothing but failures, and noticed that no matter how many times I do the factory reset it still shows my steps and activity data that should have been reset. I cannot find any more suggestions anywhere on the internet or even any suggestion that the factory reset might not work. At this point I have wasted 3 hours trying to troubleshoot this device and have gotten no closer to fixing it.

update: I finally got it working the next day. It failed a few more times for me that day with the same problems, eventually I tried syncing it to my laptop instead, which it also failed at. Then I tried the phone one more time after resetting bluetooth, turn the bluetooth of my laptop off again, and doing a regular reset on the charge 3 and it managed to connect without an issue. I have no idea why the same method that failed about 15 times suddenly worked, but it did. One thing I still have not managed is to get the factory reset to actually remove the data. I have no need for a factory reset right now, but it does concern me that it doesn't seem to work if I do end up needing it again.

Yep, sounds exactly like the issues I was having. I'm in the midst of processing a refund with the retailer (not without tediously going through Fitbit support again, who tried the same troubleshooting, even after I told them I'd already been through customer service) and I have my eye on a nice Garmin watch to replace this one.

Thank you for your idea, deleting all user data...however at 5:30 at night I lost almost 8k steps. 😞 And it hasn't synced since Friday so I lost all steps from Friday till today!! UGH!!

Fitbit there has to be a better way to fix the sync issues besides losing all my data

Dear FITBIT,
Given the magnitude of "problems" this product has (of which I own two C3's & numerous other FITBIT devices) HOW can FITBIT remain silent???The C3 should be immediately recalled and across the board refunds issued!!!

This is beyond a doubt, an inferior product that is not performing as designed! FITBIT should stand behind this & immediately fix it, or remove it from the market!

Very, very disappointed!!! FITBIT just lost a loyal customer that had supported their entire product lineup, by purchasing almost all their devices, to include the weight scale. Somebody at corporate needs to get involved with this. What a shame!

Hi. On the charge 3 under settings, about,  there is a clear all user data. Downside it deletes all your stuff but it worked for me after that.

I kept playing around with it and I finally got it to work - fingers
crossed it will continue to do so.

I unpaired it, paired it again - the key for me was being around a strong
wifi signal.

I am also having a heck of a bad time with my Charge 3.

I have a Samsung and have now tried everything.  It hasn't synced up since Dec. 4th!

I have uninstalled it, but now it won't even pair with my phone.  I have tried it while charging, while not charging, turned on nd off blue Tooth, uninstalled my FITBit app...etc..

HELP

Rebooting the charge 3 while it was connected worked for me. I held down the button for 8 seconds also but that only worked once. I have an iPhone 6S so I don’t know about the Samsung. Someone else recommended getting closer to the modem if your wifi is weak.
Hope this helps.

I've tried everything listed through this thread, including clearing my user data on the tracker. Nothing has worked. This all started for me after updating the firmware. (Had a bit of a delay due to phone troubles, but got a new phone.) I've tried pairing with three different phones, but it will never get past the part where you enter the four digit code that displays on the tracker. (The app can find the tracker, but can never connect afterward.)
