Charge 3 won’t sync and won’t pair after removing it

I know there are only like 3 people that have this device right now, but if anyone else that has it can check...is yours syncing ok? Mine last synced 4 hours ago and when trying to force a manual sync it wouldn’t get past “looking.” I tried the usual fixes - turning bluetooth off and on, removing the C3 from the app and my phone and attempting to re-add it, power cycling my phone...nothing works. The user manual says to press the side button for 8 seconds to reset, but all that does is bring up the screen wake/notifications toggle screen. Just issues due to it being new/unreleased, or is it possible it crapped out on me already?!

The Charge hasn't worked or synced since mid December so there really isn't anything to lose. It may be a fitbit version error. My husband could sync with his galaxy 8 because he had version 2.85. My galaxy 8 didnt sync because I had version 2.84. I have questions out to programmers on how to get Google play to update Fitbit to version 2.85

If you haven't yet, because you didn't say so in your post, erase user data
on your Fitbit. It will erase everything up until your last sync. Then go
into the Fitbit app on your phone and add new device.

Already did that too. It appears that my fitbit app is version 2.84 and
Google play store will not allow the update. My husband has version 2.85 on
his same phone and was able to sync my charge 3 to his phone. I have
version 2.84 and can not sync to my phone.

Thank you so much! I have spent over 11 days trying to get my charge 3 to connect and I'm not even sad at losing nearly 2 weeks of data, I finally have my charge 3 reconnected. None of the posts I saw said to test the data on the device,  but that seemed to be the trick.  I'm happy I don't have to make a warrant replacement now.

What do you mean TEST THE DATA? Please share with the FITBIT community. Anyway I am glad your troubleshooting paid off!

I synced it to my husbands galaxy s8 then disconnected, then it started working on mine and synced to bluetooth and app. We noticed that he had fitbit version 2.85 on his phone and I have version 2.84. I have no idea how he was able to sync mine, but it worked. There is an app out there to fix sync issues. I did install that. Hope that helps.

I'm having the same issue: C3 won't pair and alternates between not syncing the 'tiles' and not just not ayncing anything.

Ia there a way to fix this without doing a factory reset? Have tried all the other suggestions.

Hey, my Charge 3 would not sync for over 11 days. It was fine, and then one
day it wouldn't update my alarms. By the following day nothing was syncing
right, if at all. What I ended up doing was I went onto my tracker and
swiped left until I found the "settings tile" then I selected it, scrolled
down to "about" and selected it, then I scrolled down to "clear user data"
it doesn't factory reset as far as i can tell but it did drop all of my
unsynced data. I then put my C3 on its charger, held down the pressure
button until the smiley face showed up and attempted to reconnect it to my
app. At that step my sisters reconnected, mine didn't though so I deleted
the C3 from my app, restarted my phone, went through the initial sync with
it and everything is there. All I had to do was reset my alarms. My C3 was
still fully updated, the clock face I selected was still there and the
order of my tiles didn't change (hence why I don't think it completely
reset it so much as just dumped the memory) and all the data I had synced
to my app is still there. Saddly I did lose 11 days of unsynced data but I
didn't care at that point.

Thanks for your detailed responses about the many trial and error steps you took to get your Charge 3 to work.  I’m confident now that I made the right decision to return the device for a full refund.

So my question is, after you do this super annoying step does it sync seamlessly from here on out or do you have to continue to go back and clear your data everytime you want to sync?

I downloaded the January 11 app update to my phone and it's been syncing fine now for about 2 hours after not for about 60.  Will see how long it keeps up this time.

Finally got mine to sync after several days! I tried everything, including clearing user data and it still wouldn't work, so I unpaired the device. Then every time I tried to pair, it would give me the numbers to enter, but would get stuck forever searching for the device once the numbers were entered. Customer support had me reboot the device while the app was searching, but this didn't work either. I even asked for a replacement and they said no since they were working on the issue and couldn't guarantee that a replacement would fix the issue. So I thought I was left with an unuseable device (not happy). Then I tried pairing my fitbit one more time, entered the numbers, then cleared the user data on my fitbit while the app was searching. It worked! I had cleared the user data before and it didn't solve anything until I did it while the app was searching.

I cannot get to the place to clear data. I have a C3 running on a iPhone 8 with version 12.1.

I cannot get the two to pair so that the notifications will work. When I go to the All-Day Sync which I understand is what it should be one, the wheel just spins as does the Notifications right above it. I used to get notifications of text and phone calls fine on my Alta 2. Please help.

I have the fitbit charge 3 and it is garbage. I went thru 5 versa's (wifi issues) before settling for this cheaply made eye sore. The screen died on the 1st one in 29 days. I can never get this turd to sync. My phone won't even pick it up when scanning for bluetooth devices. I have tried every single troubleshooting step and am furious that I have to lose unsync'd info multiple times a week due to the unpairing/removing fitbit from my device "fix". Putting it on the charger and holding the button never fixes anything. I'm done with fitbit and their overpriced non working s**t. If you are reading this and can still return your device, do it. Garbage.

@KFraser, @ToniCarr@Davisa@martarita@MadHater It looks like you are currently syncing. If you are experiencing issues, please check out this article

@SunsetRunner great to hear, thanks for your feedback.

@Fralto thank you for sharing this. I agree, restarting your device is a good place to start if you are having issues. Regarding clearing your data, I haven't heard of that before to help with syncing, I'm glad it worked for you.

@SunsetRunner you shouldn't have to do a factory reset on Charge 3 unless working with a customer support agent. I do see that you were able to restart and are currently syncing.

@tesomers you should not have to clear your data for it to sync. I do recommend checking out this article.
