Charge 3 won’t sync and won’t pair after removing it

I know there are only like 3 people that have this device right now, but if anyone else that has it can check...is yours syncing ok? Mine last synced 4 hours ago and when trying to force a manual sync it wouldn’t get past “looking.” I tried the usual fixes - turning bluetooth off and on, removing the C3 from the app and my phone and attempting to re-add it, power cycling my phone...nothing works. The user manual says to press the side button for 8 seconds to reset, but all that does is bring up the screen wake/notifications toggle screen. Just issues due to it being new/unreleased, or is it possible it crapped out on me already?!

It seems to be new firmware out now. Having about 2 weeks problem to pair FC3 to app. Always stuck after entering 4 digit pin. Just "Connecting..." eternally. Today, after entering Pin app says "There is firmware update. Update now!" That really magigally went thru and after that paired flawlesly.

That FC3 is actually my mothers tracker and I played with my phone LG V30 (Not supported by the way). After got tracker syncing I visit my mother and paired FC3 to her old Samsung phone in 15 seconds.

After working for first two months as expected, charge 3 is ridden with synching issues. I have to call help desk to get sync to work. 5 times already. And in those 5 times I had to delete device data to make it sync/connect to bluetooth. Charge 3 sucks. Extremely annoyed. If I had this issue in the first month would have returned this

Go to settings app and scroll to "about".

Same issue. Pairs occasionally, but not often enough. Ridiculous.

My syncing issue started 12/23.  (I only had the Charge 3 for a month.)  I thought i had rebooted the Charge (several times) by holding the side button for 8 seconds while connected to charger but had no success.  This has been very frustrating and if you purchased the Fitbit by Best Buy, they have a holiday return policy i almost used.

Well, syncing finally working for me by:

1. Removing devices from app.

2.  Uninstalled/installed app from my Gallaxy S8+.

3. Rebooted phone

4. On the Charge 3, scroll over to "settings" on the actually fitbit. Select "About" and "Clear User" then "Reboot".  Its going to erase your data but that was going to happen if i returned the fitbit to Best Buy.

I hope this helps resolve your issue too.

I’ve had all of the same issues and tried all of the commented potential solutions. I have just “forget device” from my iPhone Bluetooth then didn’t reconnect to the phones Bluetooth but instead just went into the app and the app reconnected automatically without me click on the charge 3 name for the Bluetooth, everything is working now 🤷🏼‍:male_sign: I know it’s a very convoluted way but if it works it works, Fitbit really need to sort there act out and ensure all the bugs are removed. On a separate note how do you update software to the charge 3? I sent it a case of linking it to your computer?? Cheers in advance

I couldn't get the app to sync with the Charge 3 until I uninstalled the app, added the app back, disconnected the bluetooth, rebooted the Charge 3, restarted the iPhone, added the bluetooth back (after it finally found it after a couple of tries.) It finally synced, but the bluetooth is still spotty.

But here's the problem... Even though it finally synced in the app it won't update the steps on the Fitbit dashboard so it's not updating in a challenge either. It also has an alert in the app that the update is available, but it won't update because it can't find the Fitbit because of the spotty bluetooth! And yes, it's plugged in to the charger. Is there any other way to sync and update the firmware on the Fitbit through a computer and not the app? I noticed that the C3 doesn't come with a dongle.

I bought mine on-line and have asked to have it replaced. They have not replied to my 3 emails to date.

App updated and wouldn’t sync with Charge 3 anymore. Solution worked but lost 4,000 steps. 😡. Never had this problem before with Charge 2, I hope not to have this problem again with Charge 3.

Hi guys! Thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot this syncing inconvenience with your Charge 3. I'm glad to hear some of you have sorted this out. Woman Very Happy

While reading several post, I noticed that some of the devices you're syncing with are not yet included in our list of supported devices. So, please double check the article: Which phones and tablets can I use with my Fitbit watch or tracker?

Please keep in mind that when a device is not supported we cannot guarantee its functionality with the Fitbit app. It might work at a certain time and then it can stop working out of nowhere after an update. This is because the app is not optimized to that device and any change could impact the performance.

However, if the device is compatible and you're still having syncing difficulties, please go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and remove the tracker. In the list of Bluetooth devices you'll see the Charge 3 and next to it, this symbol "!". Hit the symbol and it will take you to the next step, once you're there select the option that says "Forget this device" or "Unpair".

Once you've made sure about that, go back to the Fitbit app, go to the "Account" option in the upper right corner and select "Set up a Device". This should start the setup process for your device. Don't forget to check that your Fitbit app is running the latest version

Hope this helps, I'll be around!

All I needed to do was update the Fitbit app in the app store and it synced. Huge sigh of relief. Thanks

Awesome @paulajhowellSmiley Very Happy Glad to hear you're back on track after updating your Fitbit app.

Would you mind checking your app as well @Exodin? Also, may I have the model of the device you're syncing with?

Looking forward to your response!

@MarreFitbit

Pixel 2.

The issue is that if you don't sync with the phone every 2-3 days, syncing becomes impossible until you wipe all progress on the Fitbit and start over.

Hi there

If you you swipe right to left on your screen you wil come to a screen with weather and settings on. The reset is in the settings tab. swipe all the way down and there is a tab called about going into that one and there clear user data and reboot device.

Hope this helps
