Charge 3 won't sync with Dongle on Windows 10

Due to blutooth sync issues / headaches with my phone / laptop I purchased the fitbit usb blutooth dongle in hopes of avoiding the sync issues with my charge 3.  It worked well for the first week on my Windows 10 PC.  Now we are back to square 1.  Fitbit's own B.T. USB dongle will no longer sync with my Charge 3.  It can't find my charge 3 anymore.    Very disappointed.

It's nice to see you around here! If you use more than one device to sync, make sure the other device isn't nearby. If the device is nearby, turn off Bluetooth on it. For more information, see Why won't my Fitbit device sync to another phone or computer?

On Windows 10 computer:

  1. From the Start menu go to Settings > Bluetooth. Make sure you see your device on the list with the word “Connected” below.
  2. If your device isn't connected:
    1. Tap or click the device name and choose Remove Device.
    2. Make sure your device is nearby and wait for it to reappear in the devices list.
    3. When it does, tap or click the device again and choose Pair. The pairing process can take several minutes but when it's done the Bluetooth status should change to “Connected.”

If the set up doesn't work on your Windows 10 computer, verify the following:

  • You installed the Fitbit app for Windows as described in How do I set up my Fitbit device?
  • The operating system on your computer is up to date. To see if an update is waiting to be installed, go to Start > Settings > Update & security.
  • The Bluetooth setting at Start > Settings > Bluetooth is on. If you can't find the setting and you're not sure whether your computer supports Bluetooth, follow the steps in this blog post to verify Bluetooth capability.
  • If your computer doesn't have Bluetooth, the wireless sync dongle is plugged in. For more information see What is the wireless sync dongle and how do I use it?
  • You don't have Fitbit Connect software installed. This software helps computers that don't have the Fitbit app for Windows 10 communicate with Fitbit devices, so if you or someone who uses the same computer had a Fitbit device in the past, it may still be installed. The quickest way to find out is to simply look for the Fitbit logo near the date and time on your computer screen. If you see the Fitbit icon it means the software is installed. Uninstall it using the same process you use to uninstall any program.

If you're still unable to set up, try the troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Restart your Charge 3.
  2. Try setting up your device again.
  3. If you can't set up after the reboot, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your computer.

Give this a go and let me know the outcome!

The question was for a device without bluetooth where the person was using - or trying to use a dongle.  My laptop is my syncing device.  I have used the dongle in other countries and today it decided that it could not find my Charge 3.  I'm not buying a new computer just to use Fitbit.  I called for help and was told "the Charge 3 was not designed to use a dongle."  That is odd since the answer to non-bluetooth for syncing is to use the wireless dongle.  Mine plus into the computer but I guess it is wireless to the fitbit device.

Your answer is completely useless.

Another terrible "stock" answer from Fitbit, where they haven't even read your issue.

Check also whether your device has "Do not disturb" set. I found that this was what was preventing me from bluetooth pairing with Windows 10 (and other devices for that matter). I don't don't know how "Do not disturb" (which is in the tracker settings) gets set to on. I suspect it's dues to user error or accidental clicking on the device button.

I just checked all my settings and do not even find an option for Do Not Disturb, either on the Fitbit settings or the settings on either device on the account. At this point I am just hoping that all my data will still be there to sync when I get home.
I force-entered calories, other activities, and steps, but there is no way to enter flights of stairs manually. I skipped sleep altogether. I Too much bother.
I'll deal with this when I get home, not on the road.

Hello everyone. @hellagood Welcome to the community forums. @JeanC1 Nice to see you around.

@hellagood Thank you very much for your nice input. @JeanC1 I appreciate the detailed information. I'd like to let you know that the DND option can be found on the quick settings screen on your Charge 3. If you have questions about how to navigate your tracker, please check here

In addition, to learn about which Fitbit data can be manually logged in the Fitbit app, please check: How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

On a side note, your understanding is very appreciated, but Fitbit devices like the Ace 3, Ace 2, Aria Air, Charge 3, Charge 4, Inspire 2, Sense, Versa 2, and Versa 3 aren't supported on Windows 10 and require a compatible Android phone, iPhone, or iPad. Although you've been syncing your Charge 3 using a Dongle, it is possible that it will encounter any syncing inconvenience due to compatibility issues. For more information about compatibility, please check: https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/technology/compatible-devices

Lastly, this thread is now closed and if you have any questions or inquiries, please post them in a new thread.
