Charge 3 won't work outside charger

I am now on my 3rd Charge 3. The previous 2 had display issues that could not be resolved and were replaced. The latest replacement now has issues.

The Charge 3 only works when connected to the charger, when I disconnect there is no display and no response. I have followed all recommendations and even been able to update the software while connected to the charger. Still does not work when disconnected.

I have an old Charge 2 which I have had for years and it still works fine... suggestions please!

Welcome to the Community, @Jean180770.

Thanks for troubleshooting this turning on issue. If your tracker isn't responding outside the charger, I recommend performing a long restart by doing the following:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Let me know the outcome. 🙂

Thank you for your response. When I connect to the charger the smiley face
appears, then the battery icon. I held the button in for at least 15
seconds, probably a lot longer. The progress bar appears, there are then 4
short vibrations. The progress bar keeps repeating but only ever reaches
half way (4 vibrations). I have tried several times but when I disconnect,
there is no response

Hi, my problem was escalated to the support team who suggested...

1. Clean the pins on the charger and the back of the Fitbit with a cleaning bud and rubbing alcohol and allow to dry

2. charge the Fitbit for 20 minutes using a different outlet than you normally use.

3. Restart the Fitbit

This did not work for me. I now have a replacement on its way to me under warranty

Hi. My Charge 3 doesn't work unless it's on the charger. I tried to restart it, which did not fix it. What are other options to get my fitbit to work?

Thanks,

Daivon

Hi

I am having the same issue with my 2nd Charge3, I had a replacement sent out a few months ago. I’ve tried doing the reset as advised, the charge3 is fully charged and I’ve managed to sync it to my phone. As soon as I remove it from the charger it goes blank.

thanks
