Charge 4 Band Connector broke

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have reached out to Fitbit several times about getting a replacement for my broken Fitbit. It only broke due to a design flaw so you would think Fitbit would replace it. I am frustrated and disappointed that Fitbit would treat its customers with little respect. I was shoot until my Fitbit broke and have been patient through the process of trying to replace my Fitbit. I feel like I am in a laundry machine getting nowhere. Has anyone else have a broken band connector? Did they replace your Fitbit?

Sounds like maybe quality is not quite there anymore/and they dont care...I was out with friends discussing this very topic and there were a few friends that didn't love their fitbit for this very reason...1 friend said she went back to her timex and uses her phone to track steps...quit her 11.00 a month subscription...saved herself a few hundred bucks...and doesn't really miss her fitbit.

My Fitbit has the same problem. The black bar connecting the band to the Fitbit has broken. There's no way to attach a new band.   Has Fitbit done anything to help?? This is a problem that duct tape can't fix...

How does the watch band attach to the Fitbit???

Hello. The only “solution” I have found since the Fitbit itself is still
totally fine is to buy a band like this: GOSETH Compatible with Fitbit
Charge 4/Fitbit Charge 3 Bands with Case, Silicone Strap with
Shatter-Resistant Protective Frame for Fitbit Charge 3/SE/Charge 4 and
Special Editions (Black&Blue) https://a.co/d/c1uVP76
But I feel like that would be too bulky looking for me. Reaching out to
Fitbit will get you a 30% discount on another Fitbit.

No, they did not offer a discount, especially if out of warranty. I don’t like the looks of the alternative band I bought but I got it anyways. I started wearing my Charge 5 but for some reason the pairing stopped on it and it won’t pair again and I’m back to wearing the Charge 4 instead.

Two little screw looking things and problem with that is those broke so can’t even replaced band. Since screws are attached to Fitbit face part

Yes, you can replace the band but not thru Fitbit. There are a couple you can find on Amazon. These bands will cover the Fitbit face. Take off the broken straps and put the face in the new band. Works well but ugly.

Hello everyone!

Thanks for reaching out regarding the band of your Fitbit Charge 4. In this case I recommend that you contact Fitbit support (click here) directly. You cna reach them via e-mail, phone or chat. If your device is under warranty, you will receive a replacement.

Have a nice day!

For what it's worth, I finally bought one of these third-party bands that will encase a FitBit Charge 4 whose connector has broken (out of warranty). In my case, I chose a "SupCase" brand band. Yes, it's a little clunky to look at, but two weeks in, it's still working well, and feels like it may last. I do think they're worth a try if you're stuck with a broken Charge 4 out of warranty.

Heads-up, though, fellow Charge Flaw Victims: What I did NOT notice was that where the connector broke, it left behind one tiny hole into the interior of the Charge 4. That was fine .... until I jumped into the lake last weekend. That Charge 4 is now definitively unrecoverable.

Fortunately (!), we have three other broken Charge 4s in a drawer --- broken in exactly the same way at the connector -- that were previously replaced under warranty. I've popped one of those into my new band and am up and running again. (But not jumping into water with the thing on. All four broken trackers have exactly that same little new hole into the interior. These devices seem to be breaking in exactly the same way.)

That's good to know! I had not gone in the water with the replacement band yet. I had been using my Charge 5 instead but now I can't get my Charge 5 to pair to my iphone 7 plus after it started telling me that pairing was unsuccessful last night. I'd been paired up after I bought it, but now I have to go back to my Charge 4 instead. Thanks for the heads up!!!

I guess I have at least a little "luck". Mine also had the connector snapped off, but I have been using it swimming without issues with the replacement band.

The connector broke at the device -- again.  They replaced my Charge 4 the first time, and I assume the new device would have a new warranty.  This is definitely a design problem, and they should not continue to put out krap like this.  Contacting them is impossible.  There is no obvious customer service e-mail address -- does anyone have one?  I am ready to abandon FitBit for a company that actually respects the customer, but do not want to lose my tracking history.  Does anyone know of a product where the FitBit data history can be transferred?

Go to Amazon and buy a replacement band that will hold your broken Fitbit...

Been there, done that. Bought Charge 5 when I wasn’t aware of replacement band. Now neither of them will connect and pair with my iPhone. Got Apple Watch Series 7 and it has been fabulous!

No honey, it's not the replacement band that broke, it's the screws on the Device that Holds the wristband. I would need to buy a new device so it can click onto the wristband.

@Franco007 , Thank you for getting back here and clarification.

Either way, should the Charge 4 be damaged, Support can have a look at it and see what they can do for you.

See you around.

You are better off buying one of the bands from Amazon that will cover the face of the FitBit instead of trying to get a new FitBit. It's a lot cheaper than buying a new Charge 4 which. will likely fail sooner than the replacement band would.

This goes nowhere. I purchased my Charge 4 April 3, 2021. The little tabs on it that connect the band broke—on June 4th, 2022. I also purchased a 2-year warranty. Asurion is such bull**ahem**. They never tell you the complete process to get a replacement. That goes for Fitbit too.

Same thing happened to me. I even sent them photos how it wasn't just the band, but, the hinges that connect the band that broke off. So they sent me a new band. I sent them the photos again how I no longer had the hinges on the device itself to connect a band. Then they sent me a new one since I was within 1 year. I hate the Fitbit Charge 4. I've had Charges all along & the 4 has by far been the worst one!

I went through all this the first time.  I’m not doing it again.  A GOSETH band from Amazon was $13, so I ordered it.  FitBit customer service sucks – all talk no action. A decent company would just acknowledge poor design and engineering and stand behind the product no questions asked.
