Charge 4 Black screen, won't charge, just buzzes

To everyone who has been having trouble with their Charge 4s this last week or so, I just found out after 10 days of trying to get someone to tell me why my Charge 4 screen went black, only buzzes, etc., etc. only to find my Android phone is no longer compatible with the FitBit Charge 4.  Apparently they did an update to the FitBit app on August 10, and since then those of us with Android phones with Android Version 9 or below are now just out of luck and will have to purchase another watch.  The update only works with Android Version 10 or above. (I don't know if iPhones are affected or not) A little advance notice would have been helpful, even though it wouldn't have made a difference.

Apparently "they" forgot to tell their Support Staff about it and how it would affect some phones.  Until today everyone I talked to gave me all the techy talk, i.e. restart your phone, clean the contacts, hold the button for 8 seconds.....  Nothing worked.  No one until today asked me what kind of phone I have and/or what system version I had.  I still wouldn't have known if I hadn't tried to log into the FitBit app and it wouldn't recognize my login credentials.  Turns out that was the reason.  Also turns out FitBits are designed to only last 16 to 18 months according to what I read on Google.  No one admitted to that either!

Will I buy another FitBit?  I don't know because it too may not be compatible with my phone, but I doubt I will.

Thank you for your information.  I didn't understand what was going on with mine. Mine is exactly the same 😡 I've been a fitbit user since 2016 but I won't be buying another one. My fitbit charge 4 isn't that old.

It's not so much the Fitbits, it's our phones' operating systems that are no longer compatible with them. Since this last update apparently. Phones have to have an operating system (OS) of 10 at least. Nothing lower. At least the Androids do; don't know about iOS. Cuts a lot of us out of the market. We now can't use any Fitbit model.

I'm having the same issue after the last update and my phone is running Android 12.

Well that blows my theory about it only affecting older OS versions, which is what their support person told me!!
