I've had my Charge 4 for about 4 months now and it used to track my walks and have a map of my route which I walked and was great.
I have recently updated to the latest app / firmware and when I finish my walks it no longer has a map of my route which is really disappointing. Looking at some of the reviews on the Google Play Store, i'm not alone and it appears that it's a software issue which has been pushed through by the developers without proper testing. It has rendered the watch useless for me.
I spent 20 painful minutes on the phone to technical support - many minutes of total silence by the Fitbit member of staff. This consisted of turning my phone on/off. Turning on bluetooth/location on my phone (already on). Connecting watch to charger and restarting it. Adding a new watch on the app. Uninstall/reinstall app. At one point the support representative claimed the Charge 4 does not have GPS and uses the phone GPS (very incorrect and lack of knowledge!)
I was then ushered off the phone and told to test it and call back in a few days if I still have the problem.
When I look at the app settings for 'exercise' and go to 'walk' it states "GPS will not be turned on". I have had a look for a solution and have not seen any. I think the developers need to roll out a patch for their software update to resolve the problem (I wish i'd never updated the app in the first place!). If I can't get this resolved then I will have to return this as it's faulty.
Grateful for any help to resolve this problem as i'm now at a total loss on where to go from here.

Maybe Support went through this with you, but to get a map, you need GPS. There are 2 places for GPS settings so check both. It is possible that firmware update changed your settings.
1st, under 'Settings' app is 'GPS Settings';
2nd, in Exercise App, after get to 'Walk' but before starting, scroll down to see more settings for Walk, including 'GPS'.

I have exactly the same with mine. I have checked gps is on in both and it is. I specially bought this fit bit so I can log my walks for my work
Now consider it a total waste of money
Any other suggestions gratefully recieved

Thanks for the suggestions.
GPS enabled in both places and it does not work.
The only potential solution at the moment I can think of (aside from returning it) is to downgrade the app version / firmware and never update again. The Fitbit developers have really made a mess of this.

For me it suddenly changed half May. I didn't notice it, but I checked the settings on the fitbit itself. It turned out that if I go to excercise, walking, swipe up/down, can see that GPS was set off. So changed it to on. Have to see whether this helps.
Also I noticed that my walking has not been synced with Strava. Hope this will be corrected by setting the GPS to on.
