Charge 4 Screen Not Waking, Buzzes but No Battery Icon on Hard Restarti

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 4 is not displaying the clock face when I try to wake it. The app says it is fully charged and it appears to be recording steps.

I tried to do a hard reboot. When I put it in the charger, the Fitbit buzzes, but the battery icon does not appear. When I hold down the side button for 8 seconds, it buzzes again and I see the smiley face. However, the clock face still does not come on when I press the side button.

What am I doing wrong and how do I fix this?

@boylecr , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for trying the restart.

Please hold the button of the Charge 4 for 3 seconds .

You'll see the quick settings.

Make sure that Don't Disturb and sleep are off.

Screen wake should be on.

Tap on the setting to change it.

Hope this helps

I cannot see anything on my screen except the smiley face at 8 seconds.  There is kinky buzzing at 3 seconds. Anything else I can do?

If I hold the button for 3 seconds, nothing happens.

If I hold the button for 8 seconds, the smiley face comes on, it buzzes, and then the screen goes blank.

Last night, I cleaned the contacts with alcohol and a cotton swab. That didn't do anything.

I put the Charge 4 back into the charger before I went to bed. During the night, a bright light woke me up. It was the Charge 4, displaying the Fitbit diamond logo with the number 100 underneath. And the green light was on. I tried holding down the button for 8 seconds and again got the smiley face and buzzing. Then nothing else happened. However, pressing the button or even moving the Charge 4 caused it to buzz.

This morning the green light is out and it will buzz for as long as you care to hold the button down.

I think it is dead (after only 12.5 months!), but I am open to any suggestions about what else to try.

I did contact Fitbit Support and these are the things they suggested that I try:

(1) Use these restart instructions using the correct charging cable:

https://t.co/At6iSYR5Ti

(2) Try changing the current clock face to another Fitbit clock face by following the steps here and then sync it after:

https://t.co/yqB4x9btvS

(3) You Charge 4 might need some help syncing. Try following these syncing troubleshoots:

https://t.co/1zPyUHJF83

Maybe those ideas will help someone else, but none worked for me. The screen just stays blank and buzzes.

Finally, I was offered the 35% discount on a newer model.

I have filed a claim under the extended warranty protection plan of the credit card I used to purchase the Charge 4 in the first place and expect to receive a full refund in the next few days.
