Charge 4 Turns Off When Sleeping And Has to be Charged to Work Again

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit 4 completely turns itself off when I am sleeping. No matter what you press it won't turn back on unless you put it on the charger. When you put it back on the charger it thinks the time is something like 1am (when it turned itself off). This is very annoying.

I have done both a soft and hard reset and it still has the same issues. Is there a fix for this or is my Fitbit faulty?

Here is an image of what my Fitbit thinks I slept this week, which is incorrect as I wake at 6am (so usually 7 hours or more of sleep).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi there @JimmyJay76. Welcome to Community Forums.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. Have you noticed if this issue happens during the day as well or only at night time?

When your body is completely at rest and you haven’t moved for about an hour, your device should record that you’re asleepBefore considering other options, please keep in mind that there are some factors that may prevent your tracker from recording your sleep. Please make sure of the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device as described in this help article.
  • If you slept for less than 1 hour for sleep patterns or less than 3 hours for sleep stages.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

If you haven't done so already, please follow the steps listed here below:

  1. Complete a three pulse restart procedure using the charging cable.
  2. Try adjusting the sleep sensitivity on the Fitbit app and check if you continue to have the same problem.

In addition, please wear your device on your non-dominant hand and monitor it for the next few days. In the meantime, for the nights that don't have sleep data, you can manually log your sleep by going to the Fitbit app, tapping on the "+" icon next to the sleep tile > Add Sleep Log and entering your details.

I'll be around.

Thank you for your reply. There was an issue with the Fitbit itself, it was not to do with the sleep/heart rate settings. Thankfully it was under extended warranty and the store replaced the Fitbit on the spot. The nationwide store had trouble locating a black Fitbit 4 from all their stores, so upgraded me to a new Fitbit 5. The Fitbit 5 is great! Best Fitbit ever
