Strange .... nothing takes me to “charging cords“. Can anyone tell me if the Fitbit Charge 3 and Charge 4 can use the same charging cords?

Hi @bootsherelle no, they aren't the same. You can see in the store - click - that they are sold, both of them. If one charger worked for both, it would indicate that. Sorry.

It's great to see you here, @bootsherelle and @Odyssey13, thanks for the input.
I was able to see here that our friend @Odyssey13 provided information about your charger inquiry. Was this the answer you were looking for? If it was, I recommend marking the answer given as the best answer. By doing this, other users with the same inquiry will be able to find a faster response.
Now, if your inquiry/issue wasn’t resolved, let me know and I will be glad to help you out.

I have charge 3 and upgraded to the 4 about a month ago. The thickness of the 3 and 4 areslightly different. The 4 doesn’t quite clip in securely to the 3 charger but it works fine. I still use my 3 charger on my 4 quite often.

They may not be the same, but they both work. I have both chargers and use them on my 4 without issue.

It’s bad enough these things rarely last a year, but then if you need extra chargers that’s more money. Hate it but love the Fitbit. Does that make me a resentful customer. Yes.

Garmin used to be really bad about every device needing a specific charger but it seems more and more of the ones being released lately use the same charger: oval with 4 contacts. Something to think about Fitbit or go wireless.

Of course you would recommend it because Fitbit would get additional money for supper charger when it doesn’t really need a separate charger LOL use the charge three charger for the charge for. Works fine

Why would Fitbit deliberately make the new version just bigger/smaller enough to require a new charger? That seems so wasteful!

Hello @SueStreaks and welcome to the Help forums. Fitbit chose to keep the Charge 4 design nearly identical to the Charge 3. The Charge 4 built-in GPS makes the device thicker. This is why it needs a different charger. On the other hand, the Charge 3 and 4 use the same wristbands, making them fully interchangeable.

@bootsherelle i would not risk it personally. There seemed to be an issue (i had it twice) with the charge 3 breaking its screen charging.
Personally. It comes with a charger. Use that one. Protect ur investment.

Agreed. It looks like they both should take the same charger.

Hi Nyril. What do you mean? You broke the charge 4 screen using the charge 3 charger? I used it a couple of times and one of them saw the smiley face come up as if the thing was resetting but breaking the screen sounds a little worse than that. If so will stop using. Thanks!

Sales and revenue is why. Any way they can find to get into their user's pocket they will as will all manufacturers.

Hello @BradBates1 and welcome to the Help forum. Like I explained in my previous post, the Charge 3 and 4 have different dimensions in their depth. This is because of the hardware to provide built in GPS. Sales and revenue have nothing to do with it. Every new device comes with a charger.

Really? I just got a Charge 4, not realizing that they need different chargers, and I can't get mine to charge at all with the Charge 3 chord.

Hello @Runningwithdogs and welcome to the Community forum. Every new device comes with its own charger. Check your box. The Charge 3 cord is all black and the Charge 4 cord has a gray section near the clamp.

I am mystified. I have been using a Charge 3 from. when it came out and then bought a Charge 4 when it came out, but it has been in a drawer (not in its box) since that time. How can I tell which is which? They look the same. Also the chargers are identical. How can I tell which is which? There is no gray section. I thought the 3 kaput, but now it is working. I charged the 4 and it wanted a firmware upgrade, but now that the 3 is working the 4's screen is black and unresponsive.
