Charge 4 app not recording distance accurately

Tracked run on Fitbit app.  Sync seemed to work.  I had run 4.9 miles.   It is now showing 0.72 miles.   Why?

Just to avoid confusions and to have a closer look at your situation, could you please clarify if the run you recorded, was done with the Fitbit app (on your phone ) or the activity app on the tracker?

Where you using GPS? 

If so where you using the one on the Charge 4 or Connected GPS?

If you recorded a map, do you see the whole track on the map?

I have tried

- GPS on watch
-GPS on Fitbit app
-GPS on Ordnance survey app

Ordnance survey works and logs route throughout

GPS watch occasionally loses signal (is stops showing on route map) but still gives a distance which doesn’t agree with either of the other maps. Note - I always have my mobile with me so thought it would use mobile GPS

GPS on Fitbit app tracker appears to keep GPS but logs a different distance than both of above.

All routes have been logged in and around East Lothian in Scotland. Fairly flat and have never had a problem with GPS before.

Have tried reinstalling app, removing all data and re-setting the watch.

Only did this yesterday so not sure it it has helped or not

Any other suggestions?

@Nelliep1401 Thank you for your explanation and efforts. 

Actually the steps you already did (Have tried reinstalling app, removing all data and re-setting the watch.) are the recommended steps. 

Let's see if those have improved the situation.

I managed to get a better result tracking directly on the mobile app but since upgrading it wouldn’t synch my heart rate into the exercise.  I did receive a replacement Charge 4 tracker for this problem but still not resolved.  This means I have to do without heart rate data in exercise or inaccurate distance.   

I took part in a timed half marathon which was formally measured.  Please let me know if there is anything I can do to get this more accurate.   See below.
