Until this summer I was very happy with my Charge 4.
Sure, it uses a lot of power when using the GPS, but my phone has one too, and that works fine.
Then I downloaded the latest update - and everything went downhill.
On grey days and indoors the screen is so dim that I can't see anything beside very faint blur.
Nothing legible, and nothing I can do about it.
In the sunlight? Forget it - use your phone. Start/stop actions? Same advice.
Sure, the response was: check if 'do not disturb' is off (it is not), check if your Fitbit has rebooted (need to do that twice a week after charging, thank you), check if it's not on 'night mode' (it's not) and the most obvious:
check if the brightness is set correctly.
A-HA! THERE I found the setting BRIGHT was missing since the last update.
So I set it to 'auto', which was the brightest option.
Now all I see is a black screen in the daytime, a bit more in the evening (if the light is dim) and can see the settings only in a completely darkened room.
Why? Was it offensive, have people complained about is, has it been swapped for another feature?
PLEASE reinstate the screen setting BRIGHT in an update in the very near future so we can use the fitbit we all love to its fullest potential!

I had similar issue. I changed the GPS setting in the Fitbit from Fitbit to phone GPS. Brightness setting on auto. It is better ish now. Hope this helps

Same here I wondered what happened after the last update but realised the Brightness Auto had been removed from the installation even though my Fitbit Settings say it is installed I actually isn't. Somehow when they did this update they made it null and void cannot even see the time. Now Fitbit Charge 4 is absolutely useless in the daylight and only at night when no lights are on. If it isn't fixed soon I will be uninstalling it from my app and reinstalling Fitbit Inspire at least I can read the time and other stats on that one.
As for it being offensive why would it be you can't even see anything without the Auto Brightness working. I can't even set it and in settings it says it is installed but if it is I'd like to know why I can't see the ideal at all in the daylight.
