Charge 4 doesn't receive notifications

I was so happy today to receive my brand new Charge 4!

Set-up went smoothly, BUT...I don’t get any notifications... not from calls, texts or apps!😤😭

Is it me or my device?  Please help me!

Hey! How old is your fitbit? Mine just had a couple of updates it needed to
go through before it started working (I think this was over the course of 4
days).

Yeah I don’t see why not, I’d just wait for the next update and try a
restart.

Hi everyone. Thanks for participating in the Community Forums.

I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting your Charge 4. I understand how you're feeling about the notifications feature not working correctly, and let me give you a hand with this matter. Before anything else, please make sure of these settings:

On your iPhone:

  • Share System Notifications is turned on under Bluetooth settings.
  • Show Previews is set to Always for phone, messages, calendar and other apps notifications settings.
  • The three alerts under the notifications settings are enabled.
  • Do Not Disturb is turned off.

On your Charge 4:

  • From the the clock screen, press and hold the button, and swipe left to the quick settings screen. Make sure the Do Not Disturb and Sleep Mode settings are off

If this is correct, I'd recommend to try the following steps:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings in your phone and forget your Charge 4 from the list.
  2. Turn off the Bluetooth in your phone and any other device nearby.
  3. Make sure the Fitbit app is updated.
  4. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  5. Restart your Charge 4 with the charging cable as described here.
  6. Open the Fitbit app, tap on the Charge 4 > All-Day Sync and accept the request to pair your tracker via Bluetooth.
  7. Try receiving a notification on your phone to test your tracker.

@celver@Londell@JamesMck and @AdrianH, I'm glad that the notifications are working for you and thanks for sharing the steps that worked for you. Your posts are very helpful.

I'll be around if you need anything else.

Hi @LizzyFitbit I’ve tried everything on this thread and just went through what you posted, to no avail. I can go into my Charge 4 and see messages, but I don’t get any notification. Any other ideas before I take this thing back?

I'm also having notification issues on my brand new Charge 4 and it is super frustrating... I'm using the workaround hints, but I just temporarily solves the issues and they notifications disappear again. I constantly got "Notifications service not running, phone restart is required..." Is there a permanent fix??

Hi @Tgreen7 and @Eiphnh. Welcome on board. @AdrianH, it's great to have you here.

@Tgreen7 and @Eiphnh, thanks for the time taken while troubleshooting your Charge 4 with the steps posted above. I'm sorry that you continue having this experience and since our team recently released a new version for the Fitbit iOS App, may I know if you have it updated? If you have, I'll need you to provide me with the model of your phone as well the iOS/software version. These details will help me to further investigate on my end.

@AdrianH, thanks for your efforts and I'm glad that the notifications are now working on your Charge 4. Hope you continue crushing your goals!

I'll be around, keep me posted.

Hi @LizzyFitbit, do you have any further solutions? My phone and the Fitbit has also recently had an update. Do I need to ring fitbit? Is this a bug? If this is a bug can I ask for an exchange on another charger 4 or even a refund?

I second NLCC - my notifications issues continue to occur, no matter that I tried all solutions mentioned in the thread. I'm also thinking to return the band, since I bought it only a month ago.

Edit:

My phone is Xiaomy Redmi Note7

Android version: 9 PKQ1.180904.001

I have also repeated all of the steps several times, Do Not Disturb and Sleep Mode are off, and I still cannot get text message notifications. I get exercise, Fitbit, and phone call notifications. I have tried rebooting my Charge 4 by holding the button for 8 seconds and by going to Settings, then About, and holding the Check for 8 seconds. Only once did I get the vibration and smiley face. Also, an update was mentioned but I cannot update the FitBit app through the Charge or through the iPhone app.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro

version: iOS 13.5.1
