Ok. I have been using Fitbit since the very first one many years ago. This is only the second one I cannot stand anymore. It is WAY TOO DIM!! Especially the minutes. If I can’t tell time it is useless to me. I have been struggling for some time, but nothing works. The people at GOOGLE are trying to ignore it away with limp suggestions like make sure it is not in sleep mode or here is how you adjust the settings. WOW! I cannot believe I am the only one. There is no way to fix it except to pour some gas on it and light it up. That way is the only way it becomes bright enough. So please just upvote this message if you agree. Like all good things coming to an end, I just can’t believe it’s time to find a better product. FITBIT CHARGE FOUR IS THE WORST.

Mine is very dim too! Is it on purpose so people forced to purchase newer model, Charge 5?? Would be nice if Fitbit will allow trade in upgrades. Still love this product..if I can see the time without having to look for dimly lit area to see the time.

Trust me, there are plenty others in the same boat! Just before my warranty was up, mine was acting like yours, especially outside but I ignored it. Two months later my screen went totally blank, everything else works but not the screen. After many emails with the Support Team they admitted that it unfortunately was an unforeseen problem with the Charge 4 that they hadn’t expected. Great, if they knew early on they should have alerted us to the issue or recalled it. The Charge.4 has many defects, and nothing will be done about them, no matter how much we may hope. I have gone back to my Charge 3 and bought a used Charge 4 for under $20 on an auction site, I will not be investing in any new device. Don’t stress yourself out, nothing you do will change their minds. If you are still under warranty contact Support, they should offer you a replacement (which will be a refurbished one) or a 50% coupon off another device. If you haven’t changed the clock face, try that, it has helped some. If you decide on a Charge 5 or another Fitbit device, check the comments on the device forums before you decide on one. Good luck!

I just started a walking routine. I can't read the display to see how many steps I have taken, even if I put inside my jacket or in the shade! I came here to see if there was a setting I missed, only to find that it is a product defect. Very disappointing!

There is a brightness setting on the device (Dim, Normal & Auto)in the Settings tab, scroll to the left to the end.
Additionally, in the Settings tab make sure the Sleep Mode is turned off, if it is on the screen will be dim. Try changing your clock face, this has worked for some. If your settings are correct then contact Support to troubleshoot or to start a claim if you are still under warranty. Good luck!
