Charge 4 -"Not Connected" when using phone gps

My gps setting is phone gps. My Fitbit is connected to my phone, and my phone gps signal is good. But when I start a workout, Fitbit trys to find gps, then says "Not Connected." What is it not connected to?

The message you get, could mean, either the Charge 4 is not connected to your phone or that the Fitbit App could not connect to a GPS .

As I said, my phone is connected to my Fitbit, and my phone has a GPS signal. the Fitbit app has 4 green bars for GPS and shows my location correctly.

@Skepticrat , Thank you for your reply and confirmation. 

It seems that the Fitbit app on your phone is not allowed to run on the background or when the display of the phone is off. So it gets disconnected. 

Please on the phone's settings go to apps>Fitbit App >(usually you'll find the correct settings under Battery settings)

It's not that. Battery setting is on "Unrestricted" and always has been. It worked fine until 2-3 weeks ago. The only thing that changed is that the GPS stopped working. 

It worked last time I went on a run--hopefully it just fixed itself.
