Charge 4 recorded inaccurate HR during exercise

I have owned 4 Polar; a TomTom and Fitbit Charge 2 and now 4. I don't know how the Charge 4 can be sold as a device that can be used to monitor HR during exercise! What is the purpose of a device that you need to adjust; move; loosen; tighten... and it is still not get an accurate reading e.g. 185 bpm for 12 min as a 60 year old? The only feature that I have any faith in is the sleep tracking. Is there a proper fix or will I be referred to links with solutions that do not work?
