Charge 4 saying to download or update Fitbit app- SOLVED

Hi all,

I've had the "download or update fitbit app" issue for a few weeks and just fixed it (after being told I could replace it, I thought it was a waste of a perfectly operating device, the software was just not working) Anyway this is what I did and hopefully it helps you as well if you are having issues.

1. Remove your account from the latest fitbit app and force it to close after that.

2. Unpair it on your phone and make it "forget device"

3. go onto your charge 4 > settings > clear user data and let it do its thing

4. the device will say the same message now "download or update fitbit app" don't worry.

5. sign back into the app with your account (I use my google one) and choose to set up new device

6. it will seem like it isn't working, let it sit for a while and it show show a little tick on the device once complete.

I hope this works for you! Sometimes I feel like we are forced to buy new things for the sake of it and it shouldn't be that way.

When a Fitbit shows the message "download or update fitbit app". It means that the Fitbit needs to be paired with your account.
