@EvelynHiggins It's great to see you in the Community!

Let me help you with this issue. You don't mention any troubleshoots so I suggest you restart your tracker by doing the following:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Disconnect your tracker from the charging cable.

I also moved your post to the correct board.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi there. I have the same problem. I've tried the restart twice. Each time I get the smilely face, but then the fitbit continuous to have a black screen and to vibrate continuously when touching the side. Is there another fix?

no.  nor will you get one.  I was one month out of warranty and was given a "generous" discount by support staff after I pointed out I had been attempting to reach them for a couple of months to no avail.  Black screen, still not working, but can feel all the functions it should have running.  Got a new one, my last one from them, it works but am still hoping to get the other one working but cant try the new clock face test since it needs to pair and I cant read the screen!  I am switching brands after this as I found a couple of others that are better covered and may cost a bit more, but their customer service is reportedly outstanding.  I have been with fitbit for many years and this isnt the first time I have gone thru this.  I have had five different models thru the years, but no more for me.  Im highly dissapointed.

This solution did not work.

I'm in the same place. Love using my Fitbit. Got first one 1.5yrs ago, used the first one for about 4-6  months, LOVED it. Simple and gives me the data I need.

After it stopped working, same issues, vibrates, the screen won't turn on.

Then i got my replacement...stopped using it in sauna, while swimming, really avoided all the things. Same issue few months later. Not sure if I got a refurbished one and just have bad luck.

Then, I called them and submitted a lot of requests to get this issue fixed. Sent them my Fitbit around holidays, did not hear for 4 months, then out of nowhere, they send me a replacement. 1 month into it ... Last night charged it. Put it on the wrist, doesn't turn on. Just vibration.

This did not help, I restarted it twice and screen is still very dim.

Exact thing just happend to mine. Just died on the wrist mid morning today with over 85% charge. Had to wait to get home to try the useless reset options via the charger. Anything I do just results in the smiley face apprearing for <30secs then the haptic button vibrates when I touch it. Screen remains black. Device still syncs I think but nothing on the screen. Had mine since Nov 2020. Any further feedback on this would be appreciated of anyone is out there!

I love my Charge 4, but it went blank and only vibrates when I press the power button on the side. The smiley face icon appears, but my device doesn't turn on.? Multiple charging attempts and Google searches to try and fix. Super disappointed. I've only had it for less than 2 years.... money wasted.... now I'll look at other smart watch options...

I have a USB port that I always use to charge mine and wife's Fitbit Charge 4. A couple of days ago I put my Fitbit on charge and forgot to take it off. When I had put it on charge it was around 15%.

Upon removing it this morning (2 days later) I saw that the screen had gone blank. I took the device off the charger and tried to long press the haptic button multiple times. I timed myself for long-pressing on one occasion for up to 40 seconds. Everytime the device would vibrate for a long time (like 5-7 seconds) and then produce a short vibration (like a beep), but still nothing.

I then plugged it back into the charger and tried turning it on. Still nothing.

As a last resort, I unplugged the charger from the USB port and plugged it into another USB port (on another device) and long pressed. This time the device woke-up. I saw the smiley face and the screen came on. What was interesting was that the battery was at 11%, which means the device hadn't charged at all!
But I'm happy state that my Fitbit is up and running again.

Hi JoeyBunn17. Did you ever get a fix for your Fitbit? I'm not finding anything to help, so I'm looking for another brand that is more reliable. I can't just throw a couple hundred dollars away every year for Fitbit. thanks!

I contacted customer service and will update the forum if the issue can be fixed.

So essentially your fitbit is toast, and if it has been over a year since you've had it you're screwed. They will offer a discount on your next purchase. I went with the Amazon version of an activity tracker this time. Monitors everything FB does but only costs $30. If it breaks in a year then it only costed $30.

Mine is doing the exact same thing everyone else is describing. No screen, but vibrates when pushing the button. A hard restart will produce a smiley face, but then will immediately go dark again and will only vibrate on button press. Any solution to this at all?

Same problem here.... it seems that this is a problem for many people.

Fitbit should resolve the issue as this is a product failure.

Thank you. This worked for me too. I was using an old cheap plug/usb adaptor and switched to the USB drive on my laptop and now it is charging.

I followed RayFitSweden's advice and used the USB port on my laptop instead of the block I had plugged into the wall and suddenly it started charging and quit buzzing. Yes, it was an old cheap charging block that worked for other devices but not my Fitbit. I'm glad I don't have to buy another one or go through the hassle of sending it in. Thanks Ray!
