Charge 4 step count graph has lots of steps, but step count say "zero" steps

For one day last week, my step count graph shows lots of steps, but the count for the day says "zero" on both the band and on the dashboard.  The day before and after are fine.  I have restarted and rebooted but the "count" is lost.  How do I prevent this from happening again?IMG_6416.PNG

Just to add, the Charge 4 counted stairs and stair graph match for this day.  I tried to upload the screenshot, but every try failed
